So the driver's side window in my 95 Camry SE has fallen off it's "tracking" (I don't know if this is the proper term). When going up or down on the automatic window switch the motor can be heard, but no motion or force on the window is created. It can be easily moved up or down. If moved to a fully closed position it falls down to a few inches of being completely open within a minute of driving or a few minutes of standing still.I've watched a mechanic open my driver's side door recently to swap out the automatic window "control box" since the driver's side window control was not reaching the motor (what a coincidence that less than a couple months later the window has other problems).I know I can remove the inside door with the tools I have, but I'm unsure what I am going to find I would need in order to put the window "back on track".Would anyone with experience with Camrys care to enlighten me as to what would be involved and what tools I would need in order to complete this task?

the only tool you need is a philips head screwdriver right?i took the door off of my 96 camry a few times and it takes about 5min. to do once you know how - you can google free instructions for that modelworst case you could take the door off and look at it at least

the window is not off track. the window motor or regultor is broken or loose.you're goign to need a new part, either motor, regulator, or both. it's not as simple as taking it apart and putting it back on track.

Thanks,I thought it would require more than just a philips and that it would take longer than 5 mins.Should have googled for instructions, but in the past when I've tried to do that for various car-related issues I haven't had much luck. I suspose this problem is probably much more common than the other issues I've had in this car that I needed help with.

taking off the door pannel probably only requires a screwdriver. replacing the regulator will require some sockets. i believe they are all 10mm, but don't quote me on it.

Thanks, I'm going to look into researching what I'll need to replace (online and then by checking physically). If I run into any problems I'll come back to TWW

if it like every other camry, the front roller on the window end wore out came apart and popped out of the track, just go to advance and get new regulator for it

if you want a cheap fix to just keep the window up and air tight, I used a hose clamp on my friends to keep it up. Cost me about $0.69 and it hasn't moved since. (He didn't have the money to fix it and was tired of wasting money on duct tape for such a shitty/ugly solution.)

wow yet ANOTHER camry regulator dies. whats new.

^^^ and ^ Thanks for that specific info.. I opened it up yesterday and yes that appears to be the problem. I'm going to advance auto after work today and hopefully will have this fixed by tommorrow.^^ yeah it was raining so I just stuck a piece of cardboard inbetween the window and the black liner at the bottom of the window attached to the door. Worked great and since I cut down the cardboard it wasn't very noticable (the colored cardboard matched my car's interior as well).[Edited on June 20, 2006 at 1:41 PM. Reason : .]
