anybody catch this?Gore made some good points but they were in between his unfounded global warming rhetoriche said every year hundreds of thousands of people have died from the results of global warming? what like people never got heat stroke or died from hurricanes until 100 years ago?
6/19/2006 10:25:48 AM
hey, the man invented the internet, ffs.
6/19/2006 10:28:51 AM
I think the hurricane argument is probably the dumbestif it wasn't a main point of the trailer, I might be inclined to see this movie
6/19/2006 11:19:42 AM
6/19/2006 11:41:06 AM
Jesus Christ, talk about strawmans. He's not saying hurricanes didn't exist or cause problemsHe is saying there are more powerful hurricanes more often. Which is fact.Global warming is factHumans as the cause is factthe only scientist disupting that are individuals bought and paid for by the oil companies.
6/19/2006 5:51:16 PM
6/19/2006 5:57:01 PM
6/19/2006 6:07:40 PM
The last time the meteors came, we thought the sky was on fire. Naturally, we blamed the Irish. We hanged more than a few.
6/19/2006 6:10:38 PM
Global warming is fictionHumans as the cause is fictionthe only scientist disupting that are individuals bought and paid for by the environmentalistssee how easy that bullshit is?its not FACT that global warming DOES or DOESNT exist...theres not strong enough evidence for either sidetake a fucking science class instead of regurgitating some bullshit rhetoric
6/19/2006 7:28:34 PM
There is scientific consensus that the earth is getting warmerThe disputes revolve around whether man is to blame
6/19/2006 7:37:34 PM
^ding ding so is it a coincidence that the earth has started heating up again right after the industrial revolution? no one knows for sure, but i wouldn't bet that its just a coincidence
6/19/2006 7:45:19 PM
The baby ice age that lasted from around 1450-1850 could also play a part, although I have never seen it addressed from either side.
6/19/2006 8:22:16 PM
The baby ice age you speak of was most likely caused by the bursting of an Ice Damn in north American that allowed a mass of fresh water to flood into the North Atlantic causing the gulf stream to shut down for a period due to a lower salinity... Read more into this if you'd like... It's a theory but the most plausible and the one with the most Evidence backing it up... This also only caused cooler temperatures for Europe and secondarily the Northern Hemisphere in general during that period...
6/19/2006 9:38:46 PM
and all the glaciers melting will create another baby ice ageglobal warming + baby ice age = we're in the clear guys!
6/20/2006 1:16:36 PM
lol... right....
6/20/2006 2:01:20 PM
6/20/2006 2:36:36 PM
The Space shuttle... thats his.
6/20/2006 2:59:44 PM
Global warming = eugenics.Mr. Jurassic Park says it, so it must be true.
6/20/2006 3:21:55 PM
there are several different reasons for this to have happened... i can only point you towards wikipedia so taht you might enlighten yourself... why should i have to read for you?[Edited on June 20, 2006 at 4:03 PM. Reason : .]
6/20/2006 4:02:29 PM
i was just playing devils advocatea lot of people equate any glaciers melting or anything that rises sea level to something caused by humans and co2 emissionsi was just, in my own way, pointing out that stuff like that does indeed happen naturally, yes
6/20/2006 4:04:22 PM
Its like that time that man's irresponsible logging killed off all of the dinosaurs. Global climate changes don't just happen on their own.
6/20/2006 4:06:42 PM
yeah the dinosaurs would still be here today if we had switched to hybrid carsthen people would bitch about how much profits the oil companies hydrogen fuel cell companies were making off us, even though we had the 5th cheapest hydrogen fuel cell prices in the world
6/20/2006 4:10:23 PM
6/20/2006 4:11:21 PM
thats not trolling, thats playing devils advocate through sarcasm completely relevant to the topicyou on the other hand take a political thread and talk about soccer and basketballmaybe i should've been completely literal and said "there have been natural disasters that affected life on earth before humans aggressively emitted carbon dioxide into the atmosphere"...i didnt think it was difficult at all to understand the way i actually worded itjust stop]
6/20/2006 4:15:03 PM
Well shit. There have been meteors hitting Earth all the time, and they used to be much bigger than the ones we get now. I guess we should just let them hit. Screw nuking them, that's a pansy LIEberal conspiracy. Those dumbass hippies probably think dinosaurs would still be around if it weren't for a few meteors.Actually, it was communism that killed them. See, that's what they don't tell you.[Edited on June 20, 2006 at 4:32 PM. Reason : stop asking me for reasons]
6/20/2006 4:29:49 PM
a meteor with a given trajectory and velocity and distance from earth is a bit more tangible than a theory of temperature fluctuations with no quantification]
6/20/2006 4:34:45 PM
6/20/2006 4:58:21 PM
because its a theorybasic scientific definition
6/20/2006 5:01:56 PM
that's how science works--a theory is adhered to until its proven wrongdo not mistake science with religionand i have observed enough to buy the theory of Global Warmingnatural cycles do cause it, but man's activities are exacerbating it
6/20/2006 6:34:38 PM
I'm cereal.
6/20/2006 6:48:57 PM
so the dinsoaurs got fucked...that doesn't really explain your complete lack of self preservation
6/20/2006 6:50:36 PM
global warming is factal gore says sohe also said he invented the internet
6/20/2006 6:52:04 PM
Related to the environment, here is a good story about a company making butanol (better than ethanol)
6/20/2006 9:41:22 PM
6/21/2006 11:17:22 AM
^if thats a serious question, then i'll give a serious answer...no gore didnt invent the internet...the internet was invented a few decades ago by the military/govt to be a means of communications in the event that a nuclear war or other disaster prevented normal communications channels...but i hope that wasnt a serious question

Al Gore's tears cure cancer. Too bad Al Gore has never cried.
6/21/2006 3:29:27 PM
6/21/2006 3:31:43 PM
Al Gore seems like a pretty smart guy, but he's going a little overboard with the global warming shit.Ok, the earth has risen a degree or two in 100 years.....but look at all the shit we have developed in the last 100 years. Automobiles, rockets, etc.Now the attention has been brought to the situation that we cannot continue doing this forever, and my guess is that 100 years from now, we will have new technologies, and new ways of fucking up the earth. But we will all be dead by then, so I dont give a fuck.
6/21/2006 3:38:22 PM
Maybe Homeland Security should be about protecting our environment, instead of our borders.Perhaps.[Edited on June 21, 2006 at 3:49 PM. Reason : -]

yeah, that whole gore comment was taken out of context and blown out of proportion. but hey, thats politics.
6/21/2006 4:57:42 PM
^^so you're saying Thomas Edison didnt invent the lightbulb, GE invented the lightbulb because they expanded lightbulbs into the corporate realm?
6/21/2006 4:58:54 PM
Al Gore never claimed to have invented the internet.

http://www.snopes.com/quotes/internet.aspSnopes is a cool site with many urban legends, you all should check it out. But yes, Al Gore's efforts were important for the creation of the internet.
6/21/2006 5:09:13 PM
he did help expand the internetbut why the hell did he say he took the initiative in creating the internetthe internet already existed, he didnt create itthis isnt a case of taking something out of context...its a case of him not thinking before he spoke, and getting called out on it]
6/21/2006 5:10:07 PM
the internet, as we know it today, did not exist at the time.
