LOCK BOX
6/17/2006 5:13:52 PM

I guess it comes down to deciding who to believe. Though I would think that Al Gore should be very far down on that list.
6/17/2006 10:55:05 PM
I don't understand why everyone hates on Gore so much... is he realy that unlikeable...?... or is it a politics thing?
6/17/2006 11:24:40 PM
He's a boring nerd.No matter how powerful or smart he is, Americans don't want to listen to a boring nerd.

who cares what scientists think anyways? They don't know shit.
6/19/2006 3:27:06 PM
who cares about all the other scientists who arent massive proponents of the global warming theory? they dont know shit

Hey, it's no big surprise the world is pushing ever faster toward oblivion. What's most annoying is that people will go see this movie, shrug and say "Oh, how tragic!" or "Oh, what lies!" and then do jack shit about anything in the real world to counteract the possibility of it being true. It's as if people have completely lost trust in any reporting whatsoever because we've been so jaded by the media or government lying to us. It's so hard to motivate people to do anything at all, I suppose because apathy is inevitably easier.
6/19/2006 4:07:40 PM
that idiot isnt boring though...in the television era, hell since the nixon kennedy debate, its about the more charismatic candidate...the one who knows how to talk to people in a more personal way...bush is more charismatic and less boring than both kerry and gore...clinton was more charismatic and less boring than bob dole...michael dukakis was bland...reagan obviously knew how to play to the tv cameras as a former actor...etc
6/19/2006 4:15:50 PM
No, I know why he got elected- I mean, he's very down home and personable in a very everyman sense. But I still think this country needs to elect men on some better criteria.I mean, can you believe that, on the Discovery Channel survey, they elected RONALD REGAN as the greatest American to ever live? GWB was number 6. Americans piss me the fuck off sometimes.

as far as global warming though, i took lots of science classes at state...i was fortunate enough to have relatively nonbiased professors educate me on some things...and with regards to global warming, i learned a few things that ANY scientist or science student should know1. Global CO2 levels have DEFINITELY risen over the last 100 years2. Global mean temperatures have DEFINITELY risen over the last few decades3. Detailed data does not go back far enough for us to extrapolate any accurate analysis of whether these temperature increases are a direct result of rising CO2 levels or if they are simply natural Earth cycles4. General data from soil core samples, etc shows that the Earth has had high levels of CO2 before with lower temperatures, suggesting they are not necessarily directly related in this case5. There is evidence that supports global warming and evidence that refutes global warming. 6. There is no evidence that explicitly proves global warming does or does not existpeople can jump on either side to try and make their point, make their money, etcbut theres not a set-in-stone answer

Ok... if global warming exists which i think most scientists agree on(the vast majority unless of course your salary is paid for by exxon for some bullshit like that).... And even if we humans are not a major cause ( which i think most scientists would not agree with: not to confuse anyone there... i think they would say we are a major reason).... Global Temperatures ARE RISING and they WILL have an impact on millions if not billions of people on this planet... Is it not human nature then... even if its not our fault to try to change things... reverse things... so that the earth remains habitable for us...? Or on the reverse if it is our fault why not try and reverse things also?... I mean once you see there a problems... And you see where your headed... Why not act?... And if Evermagenta is right and people are too apathetic then maybe humans do deserve to die out... But... i dont think so... i dont want to Die because of all you "Global Warming is a scam created by liberal scientists wanting more funding and by the Jews." Idiots... but maybe thats just me...[Edited on June 19, 2006 at 9:23 PM. Reason : i cant spell...]
6/19/2006 9:22:30 PM
Oh... And to Evermagenta... Are you doing anything yourself proactive against global warming starting a PAC... or joining one on campus... and if so...? which ones... I'm looking into it myself...[Edited on June 19, 2006 at 9:26 PM. Reason : i still cant spell ]

global warmingn. An increase in the average temperature of the earth's atmosphere, especially a sustained increase sufficient to cause climatic change.
6/20/2006 9:30:30 AM
whats that from, dictionary.com? hey go ask martha stewart the definition of a catalytic converter or ask lil wayne to explain to you the rules of hockey

"Global warming refers to the increases in the average temperature of the Earth's atmosphere and oceans in recent decades."WIKI'D.
6/20/2006 11:08:06 AM
^at least that says "in recent decades"the point i'm trying to make is when the scientific community refers to global warming, they are not taking it to the simplest level of global warming = temperatures getting warmer around the globe...more specifically, its recent temperature changes attributed to manmade CO2 emissionsi'm not trolling here...but the definition isnt as literal as it sounds
6/20/2006 11:12:49 AM
I'm saying I disagree.Global warming refers to just that. A rise in the mean temperatures of the globe over the past however many years. I'm no scientist, but I've read plenty of articles that discuss the possible causes of global warming. If "global warming" meant "a rise in the mean temperature of the earth due to human causes", then a discussion on the long-term geological causes of global warming would be meaningless. For what it's worth, Al Gore's site says this:
