I downloaded an Windows XP pro iso through MSDNAA and thought I would install it. I mounted the iso via alcohol120, because I thought it was just an upgrade and wouldn't need to reboot and install from CD. But it did, I don't have any cd's and can't get any for the time being. However every time I start my machine it brings up a boot menu with my original os and xp setup, is there any way to get rid of the xp setup option?[Edited on June 16, 2006 at 10:15 AM. Reason : .]

The entry of the old install is still in your boot.ini.You can manually edit boot.ini with notepadit is a hidden file on the root of c:or you can use the command line tool bootcfg.bootcfg might be a little safer.eitherway you just want to delete the old entry.

Thanks, I just changed the default through msconfig. That way when I do get cd's I can just go for the upgrade, but I can restart my ocmputer without issue still. Awesome suggestion.

you can also right click my computer > properties > advanced > startup and recovery and do it in there.

I've heard of a few, but mostly tablet users with no optical drives.
