6/14/2006 3:53:32 PM
you're gonna need to tell us "your" "definition" of "emo"we'll start with this: what band did you hear that made you want more "emo"?
6/14/2006 3:53:39 PM
think "classic emo"because ive heard a range from screamo to that pop punk stuff kiddies are calling "emo" these daysso basically when you (the 2 of 1000000 people on here who can appreciate all types of music) hear the term emo, what good bands come to mind.
6/14/2006 3:56:44 PM
smith and wesson ?
6/14/2006 4:02:50 PM
Death Cab For Cutie
6/14/2006 4:04:51 PM
Just get a fucked up haricut and tell people that you listen to emo.
6/14/2006 4:05:12 PM
i don't wanna touch this question for fear of being flamed.
6/14/2006 4:06:36 PM
Emo is the only word I can think of that truly has no meaning anymore. It has become confused and improperly used so many times that it no longer holds any definition that people will agree on.
6/14/2006 4:11:11 PM
"classic emo": are we talking stuff from the 80s? husker du, et al?because that stuff is almost entirely different from "emo" these days.

6/14/2006 5:12:40 PM
i still think you should tell us what band you heard/liked
6/14/2006 5:20:40 PM
6/14/2006 5:36:54 PM
this is why i've yet to list a band
6/14/2006 5:40:07 PM
i have come to use Emo as a blanket term that refers to all bad music sung by whiney dudes that for some reason are not considered boy bands but probably should be.this would include Death Cab For Cutie
6/14/2006 5:42:28 PM
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emo_%28music%29#The_third_wave_.282000.E2.80.93Present.29third wave lists a lot of bandstho a lot of them suck.
6/14/2006 5:44:44 PM
The Get Up Kids
6/14/2006 5:52:58 PM
^^^that, my friend, is an idiotic post. like death cab or not, whatever, but they are far from a boy band.i mean, only one of them sings, and they all play instruments.[Edited on June 14, 2006 at 5:53 PM. Reason : ^^^]
6/14/2006 5:53:37 PM
well then we'd have to look at my definition of boy bandwhich would be any group of young male singers that is bad
6/14/2006 5:54:48 PM

You are going to have to define emo. Teh_Toch hit the nail on the head with his comment in this thread.
6/14/2006 7:16:43 PM
man, i've listened to stupid amounts of emo in my day. i think sleepytime trio will always be my number one.
6/14/2006 7:56:09 PM
anybody else see braid on their comeback tour a few summers ago in greensboro? such an awesome show
6/14/2006 7:56:14 PM
6/14/2006 7:56:37 PM
Sleepytime Trio is a good suggestion. And arnt the dudes from maximillion colby in that group too?
6/14/2006 8:07:47 PM
i guess i dont listen to emo if i havent heard of a single band in this thread except death cab cause some ho listened to them
6/14/2006 8:30:53 PM
good call
6/14/2006 8:33:33 PM
6/14/2006 8:36:33 PM
sleepytime was half of max colby. the other half was compromised of two big-timers in the incestuous lovitt empire: ben davis and johnathan fuller of engine down, milemarker, denali, and the ben davis band fame...among others. of the max colby dudes, dave nesmith was in men's recovery project with sam mcpheeters(!) and is now in the rah brahs. drew ringo is doing supine to sit.
6/14/2006 8:44:48 PM
If you're thinking classic emo i would suggest Sunny Day Realestate and Rites of Spring
6/14/2006 9:18:21 PM
6/14/2006 9:29:52 PM
Yeah and if you like Rites of Spring and also enjoy oldschool punk like minor threat then i would suggest Fugazi, but you probably already know about Fugazi
