BE CAREFUL DRIVING IN THIS SHIT (cold air intake) 2 Honda people i know within a week have choked out their cars in puddles
6/14/2006 11:49:02 AM
so true. good thing mine broke off and i put the stock one back on i love cruisin through big ass puddles and hydroplaning
6/14/2006 12:07:04 PM
I have a snorkel so I doubt I'll have any problems
6/14/2006 12:31:42 PM
how about you put your filter somewhere it wont suck in water
6/14/2006 12:49:44 PM
poorly designed CAI.. hmmm
6/14/2006 1:46:01 PM
i work in wilson. it's not lookin good outside. some local roads are already flooded. i got short ram so it should be ok
6/14/2006 2:48:14 PM
my intake is about headlight height - i don't get back to raleigh until the 22nd though - all will be well thenthings like this make me consider a bypass valve
6/14/2006 2:51:01 PM
hah, a bypass valve wont do shit in this weather.
6/14/2006 3:02:12 PM
these ones were both right infront of the drivers side front tire down lowand i don't get that bypass valve junk... its basically a filtered hole in your intake that would suck in hot under hood temp air so if you're looking for cold air then whats the point?
6/14/2006 3:58:49 PM
The bypass valve isn't open all the time.
6/14/2006 4:13:49 PM
it has a rubber flaphole or something behind the filter material that stays closed until the main filter is closed off and drops the pressure enough
6/14/2006 4:13:53 PM
ohhh again these ones must have been poorly designed (EBAY) cause their flapper valves didn't exist
6/14/2006 4:15:58 PM
fwiw, bypasses dont agree well with forced induction.
6/14/2006 4:42:58 PM
6/14/2006 5:00:42 PM
what are u fucks talking about?
6/14/2006 5:02:24 PM
look at that cute little 1/4" thick rod
6/14/2006 5:34:36 PM
They aren't poorly designed. They're working exactly as intended.
6/14/2006 5:40:32 PM
warning, more flooded cars will be on the market tomorrow.
6/14/2006 10:34:29 PM
WRX on the side of 440 today.
6/14/2006 11:09:36 PM
i love driving puddles in my carits high off the ground with performance intake but its not a CAI so im good
6/14/2006 11:46:46 PM
6/14/2006 11:50:51 PM
i survived. anyone with half a brain can do just fine on a rainy day with a cai
6/14/2006 11:54:03 PM
^ Exactly. My dad hydrolocked his engine on his Ford in WA state driving too fast through 10 inch deep water.
6/15/2006 6:55:50 AM
w00t for my SRIthats why i picked it over a CAIi like puddles.
6/15/2006 8:12:02 AM
yeah and i hope the wrx didn't have a cai or an sri either way they usually throw a code on a stock one and none of the cookie cutter maps work well cause they're a bitch to tune and they always affect the MAF reading differently.
6/15/2006 8:29:54 AM
^ true, very true
6/15/2006 9:04:48 AM
did that wrx have a black hood??
6/15/2006 10:18:22 AM
I didn't really catch the hood. It was blue with gold rims.
6/15/2006 11:55:30 AM
was it an STI??
6/15/2006 12:24:56 PM
dude I donno, I was blowing past it at 80mph in the left lane and it was on the right shoulder it had a big ole wing on it I know that.
6/15/2006 12:40:13 PM
yeah, it was an STI.it sucked in water. hopefully insurance can handle it
6/15/2006 1:56:01 PM
wow it takes a good amount of water to hydrolock a car yea?
6/15/2006 3:34:18 PM
yeah these weren't locked but i bet they're not in good shape eitherboth of the blocks had been cooled below atmospheric temp in under a minute (probably mostly in the spash that it sucked in the water) and had water sitting on the pistons (i assume) they eventually cranked but i doubt they look pretty internally
