A lot of people have been complaining lately about how much I let slide in this forum. So, who likes my historically (arguably overly) lenient moderation, and who wants shock & awe?

I can do it either way (like, well, The Wolf Web or like a platoon of Marines)...the intent of TWW's owners is to keep the forum as enjoyable as possible for the maximum number of people. I'll generally take that as guidance and temper it with my judgement.

Whichever way the masses decide, the rest will have to deal.


Oh, and your opinion doesn't count if you aren't at least a somewhat regular contributor to the Soap Box. In addition, please keep the debate in this thread to a minimum. Your simple request will suffice.

Honestly, I've almost completely quit reading the Soap Box as of late. Between the posts by salisburyboy, the parodies of salisburyboy, and the alts that may or may not be him, it's ridiculous. I'd prefer you keep this shit on lockdown, but I don't really know if that would help.

I think limiting him to one thread, as was originally discussed, would acheive a lot of the same ends -- fewer parodies, etc. It would also limit the number of things that people could bttt for whatever reason it is that they bttt salisburyboy threads.

If nothing else, it would be a compromise, and those are always nice.

1. I'm not going to suspend salisburyboy unless he breaks the rules, so stop asking. I told him that I'd hold up my end of the deal as long as he held up his, and I'm not going to go back on my word.
2. The amount that he disrupts the forum is inconsequential compared to how much all of his haters do. He is not the problem--those of you who won't get off his nuts are the problem.

I use to be in this camp, but salisburyboy doesn't learn at all. It's worse than talking to a brick wall. He's like the esgargs of the soap box.

Then after several people say they want salisburyboy suspended or at the very least moved to chit chat you basically tell them that you aren't going to do anything whatsoever about it. If you are going to hold veto power over people at least be up front about it so they won't even bother sharing their feelings about the board with respect to things they know you won't do anything about.

For the record. I wouldn't mind having one salisburyboy thread in the SB. My feelings toward him have gone from obvious troll, to trying to debate with him, and finally to comedy source.

I used to be of the opinion that salisburyboy was harmless too, and when I came to TSB and saw all of the hater threads I immediately came out in support of him against the trolls. This is because I didn't ever really bother to read his threads. After doing so, I agree with Woodfoot more than ever.
