my mom's land rover was right hand drive / left shift (lived in england for 2 years), if she can do it than anyone can
6/12/2006 7:12:13 AM
its not hard at all, might take a while to adjust but no complications should arise
6/12/2006 9:02:35 AM
Alls fun until you realise you spent 45k on a used car.
6/12/2006 10:05:41 AM
^ that will depreciate at about 1/20th the speed of a normal car (or possibly appreciate) until it is a classic where then it will appreciate.its all fun and games till you spend 45k on some shit everyone has
6/12/2006 10:10:19 AM
6/12/2006 10:12:53 AM
Nahh i want an awd car and i'm looking at subies but when it comes down to it they just can't make the kinds of power skylines can... they detonate at much lower boost levels
6/12/2006 10:20:59 AM
Maybe.Its still a risk.
6/12/2006 10:23:01 AM
why in the hell would you want a RHD car? so you can go through drive throughs backwards, and when trying to pass a semi on a dotted yellow line you get creamed by another truck?waste of money IMO
6/12/2006 10:34:39 AM
^ true.... by the time i had 45k in a subie could have a cosworth motor under the hood.
6/12/2006 10:41:16 AM
the shifting pattern is the same from what i understand (still left to right goin up gears), so it would be just the same as when you were young and you're parents/older brother/sister's let you shift the stick when they engaged the clutch from the passenger side (and screw all the haters- I think it would be cool to have a righthand drive car here, especially a skyline or sylvia or something)... hell, i wouldn't mind even having a true honda integra type r
6/12/2006 1:47:28 PM
the only downside is I see is how much of a bitch it would be to have the car serviced, or to order parts for it.
6/12/2006 1:56:04 PM
Why would it be a bitch to get parts? The majority of the car is the same.I've never been in a RHD car, are the pedals in the same positions?
6/12/2006 2:09:11 PM
if you can afford it, i say go for itthere are some setbacks, but prob. nothing worse than you could come up with for any other car
6/12/2006 2:23:47 PM
pedals are the same.only difference would be the steering rack/column and perhaps the throttle/clutch/brake cables/lines
6/12/2006 2:36:14 PM
no the pedals are definately backwards, good luck learning to shift & accelerate with the wrong feet.
6/12/2006 2:42:20 PM
what? (i hope you're not serious)
6/12/2006 2:48:40 PM
i saw a rhd gt4 celica on chatam street yesterday i waved and he was like YEAH haha it was schhwaeeet
6/12/2006 2:48:46 PM
A classic Mini Cooper or MG in RHD would have more panache.
6/12/2006 2:51:23 PM
^^ i see that guy sometimes..
6/12/2006 2:52:02 PM
Mini has panache?no+ I'm not looking to be seenI'm looking for a 500-600 whp awd car that isn't going to be on the verge of poping the motor every time i get on it.Does the mainland of Europe not have skylines... cause aren't their cars left hand drive?i don't really care about working on it and how long parts arrive i'm not trying to rock a skyline as my only car... that would just be retarded.i was thinking about building an old mustang up to do it which would be cool but the biggest pita ever. you can mate a t-56 to a cyclone transfer case (40f/60r torque split) with a do it yourself adapter flange that but then still you have to worry about front end axle clearances etc.[Edited on June 12, 2006 at 4:12 PM. 6/12/2006 4:11:35 PM
Continental Europe is left-hand drive.
6/12/2006 4:46:46 PM
I have a RHD car, its easy to shift- you get used to it quickly. and the pedals are the same who the heck told you they wern't?Btw i also just walked in the door from the bahamas where they have RHD cars.Oh, and R32 is so much nicer than the 33, not to mention cheapers[Edited on June 12, 2006 at 5:17 PM. i want one of these:
6/12/2006 10:47:15 PM
6/12/2006 11:06:34 PM
is the clutch still on the left ?

6/12/2006 11:09:26 PM
alright slut, didn't catch on to the internet sarcasm...I actually got into a heated debate in my Organic Chem Class over which side the clutch was on. Somehow I lost the debate and it was decided that the clutch pedal was on the right side which pissed me off for the rest of the week. So yeah.
6/13/2006 12:17:22 AM
its noti was watching a rally and had foot camera
6/13/2006 12:18:36 AM
i kinda like r33sbut they pale in comparison to r34s
6/13/2006 12:23:30 AM
i know the r34 is a better car in the way an evo is great... aka too much electronics but i really like the less agressive almost altima style of the r33
6/13/2006 12:27:50 AM
yeah r33s are prettybut the lines on r34s scream 'IM A FUCKING BADASS'
6/13/2006 12:35:25 AM
the thousands of us who grew up on offset Farmalls should have no trouble shifting left-handed
6/13/2006 3:32:40 PM
^True dat. Just finished working on a Farmall 100 a couple months back.
6/13/2006 5:05:54 PM
If I could find a decently priced farmall even if it's a cub, I'd sell my massey harris. it's a decent tractor, but the farmalls are much better.
6/13/2006 10:35:49 PM
Unfortunately, the Farmalls ain't shit. Unless it's a 3-series or higher or an old M. Or a diesel. The small Farmalls are, for the most part, geared way too damn high. First gear ain't low enough. My oldie tractor of choice would have to be the Ford 660 or 860 Powermaster. And I got a soft spot in my heart for ye olde Johnny Putt.
6/13/2006 11:28:55 PM
The topic managed to switch to tractors with one post. Wow, State really does have way to many kids from the country lol
6/14/2006 1:53:10 PM
^^ with all due respect, for cultivating and tending a garden, you cannot beat the super A-140. they were mainly used as tobacco tractors in this part of the world. I've messed with a lot of 2 cyl John Deeres, but they are very clumsy and hard to do anything with. I've often wondered how they could have sold a single 40 or M when you could get a super A or 140. the bigger ones are powerful, but the hand clutches, difficult to shift transmissions, and powr trol make them aggravating. the farmalls might be geared high, but they are much better tractors in my opinion. people do like the way the JDs sound, though
6/14/2006 2:20:59 PM
6/14/2006 2:54:24 PM
yes it will... but then I'm driving a Mitsubishi with too much electronics for its own good ( i don't trust them) + i remember hearing that they had some sort of issue with the head, either valve seals or warping or something that caused excessive smoke in time.ohh yeah and they weigh more than my lifted jeep with 31s and a full size spare.and if you don't believe mepeep dis i'm sorry but i'd rather have a 500hp cherokee
