My parent's let their inside cat have one liter of kittens before having her spayed, and now they are ready for loving homes! They asked me to put them on here since you people are always adopting animals. I'm not good at sexing, but I THINK we have 1 male and 2 females. You're welcome to check the sexes before taking them home. I will bring them to Raleigh with me Sunday when I go back.(The mother has long black & white hair.)The first 3 pics are of 2 of the "girls" (forst 2 are the same kitten), the last 2 pics are of the "boy".They are all REALLY sweet, playful, and have great attitudes. They don't act wild, were born and grew up inside. Have been outside this week. They use the litter box for the most part. They are very loving, and the little black & white one will let you tie her in knots! If you want more info, just ask!

The other 't' must not have worked...I'm surprised that was my only typo, I'm on my parent's computer, and their keyboard is weird! I almost forgot! They all LOVE dogs, big and small ones![Edited on June 8, 2006 at 5:30 PM. Reason : b]

awww, I want a kitty *sigh*
6/8/2006 9:42:16 PM
why'd they let her have kittens if they were going to spay her anyways?on that note, i saw that pet store was trying to charge $100 for kittens. wtf. there's free ones everywhere, or the pound. stupid pet stores, i hate you.

^^Because having a litter of kittens is a good way to instill some great qualities into a cat. They calm down, and it helps their hormone cycle-as opposed to just having them spayed without having kittens (I hope I explained that right, if not-sorry). We let my other cat do the same, and she calmed down and became the sweetest cat you've ever known immediately. Already she's a lot more loving and even better of a cat. (This is not just something that has worked for my cats, but vets will tell you the same thing.)^I'm glad you're enthusiastic about other cats getting killed. If you're that worried about it, how about you go adopt one. I don't know why, but any thread that ever gets made on here trying to do something good-some asshole has to come on here and try to make it bad for everyone else. I think I could be giving away free clothes to the naked children in some 3rd world country and someone would be on here trying to discourage it.This thread is to find these kittens homes, not to hear people whining about the shelters. I am keeping these out of the shelters.^^^^It's just a little kitty! There's always room in your bed for it to sleep in! ^^^You're welcome to one! (or two) [Edited on June 8, 2006 at 11:15 PM. It has worked with my other cat, and the VET RECOMMENDED IT. I think adopting from the shelter is great, but the fact is that it costs money-and there's plenty of people that would prefer a free animal as opposed to one they're going to have to pay for. I'm not here to argue about a cats hormones or what my vet said as opposed to what you found-I'm here to find these kittens homes.
6/9/2006 8:40:02 AM
not gonna start a fight... hope these kittens get good homes...but getting an animal for free doesn't make them free. shelters charge to cover spaying/neutering, shots, microchipping, and deworming. paying that out of pocket yourself is a lot more.but the kittens are adorable. i'm sure they'll find homes.
6/9/2006 9:28:34 AM
For future reference, please don't post if you're going to hinder the process of finding homes for these kittens. This thread is not in chit chat or the lounge and is not up for debate. Everyone has opinions, but this is classifieds-not a place for you to try to tell me where I am wrong. Thanks. Kittens need good homes still! ^They are cute, I don't think there will be any problem finding them homes![Edited on June 9, 2006 at 11:22 AM. Reason : ]

Your logic is totally fucked up, in fact downright abominable. Because of people like you, who "let their cats have one litter to calm down", along with abused ones, feral animals, and ones that don't match the carpet, thousands of animals end up in shelters each year, and get needlessly slaughtered because we view the pet population as disposable objects. I'm glad people ARE riding your ass, because you need to change your outlook on this whole issue. A pet is a major commitment that your life has to revolve around for the sake of its well being and sanity. Granted I have a dog and he requires more effort than a cat, but it was a lifestyle choice I definitely made cause it's better. And if your cat needed an attitude adjustment with hormones, why didn't you kill it and get another one from the shelter? And who the fuck is your vet? What is wrong with them?
6/10/2006 11:21:14 AM
I have always found homes for kittens that weren't even born from my cats. And I've had animal control come get the feral ones away from my neighborhood. Where I live, people throw animals out all the damn time because there's so many bleeding hearts here and little kids that will take it home SOMETIMES, other times they just live here and turn feral, and it pisses me off, so I always try to do the best thing. It's not like I'm throwing them out to reproduce and add to the shelters. If someone wants to get a kitten from a shelter, then by all means, they should. But if they don't, thats THEIR call, not mine. And I'm not going to kill my parent's pet, that's just a dumb suggestion. They took the vet's advice and let her have one litter of kittens. So, now I am finding them homes, and I honestly don't think that you people are holding up the process of finding these guys homes, judging from the pm's I've received.[Edited on June 10, 2006 at 11:37 AM. ^^ kill it and get another?!?!? what the hell is wrong with you. Letting a cat have a litter in a controlled condition is fine. There's nothing wrong with that. Sure there ARE a ton of cats in shelters. There are a ton of HUMAN kids in shelters and orphages... I guess if we don't like ours we should kill it and get another. Jesus...[Edited on June 10, 2006 at 11:57 AM. Reason : english dammit! I can't speak english!]

If anyone is interested in a kitten and is too late to get one of these, there are A TON of adorable kittens are animal control/shelter/rescue. Just go to petfinder.com to find the closest one and drive over there. I can almost guarantee if you just up and go to one you'll find one you fall in love with. The Chatham Co. shelter/control had way too many kittens, and still do. At least 12 were left after Palisades rescue pulled several for adoption.
6/10/2006 1:19:02 PM
Take these first though! (j/k, your choice)(^Great suggestion, I'm familiar with Chatham's situation.) These are the sweetest kittens I've seen. They love to be held and have their bellies rubbed (unless it's crazy play time). They listen great to be so young and they use the litter box![Edited on June 10, 2006 at 1:40 PM. Reason : ]

Not very, I gave them baths today-and they're scrawny little things.
6/11/2006 2:02:50 AM

they're too little to protest

I have to say I agree that they shouldn't have let her have a litter. My sister thought the same about her dog, and went ahead and waited until she got pregnant and have puppies before spaying her. I don't get it, I don't get why a vet would recommend it unless that vet hasn't had much contact with rescue-type activities. I don't know a vet that would recommend it. It might make an animal more "motherly" but then how do you explain the loving male cats that don't have babies? But either way that's not the point, and there's no reason to flame her for it. The point is that there are now three kittens that need good homes so that they don't become feral or pregnant.
6/11/2006 10:54:00 AM
if you go on craigslist there are also tons of ads for free kittens... i've seen so many I began to wonder if the cat population is in worse condition then the dog population......by all means, go by the shelters

The only kitten left is the black and white one. She's the calmest one of the litter. You can do anything in the world to her, and she'll let you! She likes to have her belly rubbed, and minded the least about the bath. She'll make someone very happy.
6/11/2006 10:45:04 PM
ttt, only one, and she wants to love someone!
6/12/2006 12:35:21 PM
I wasn't going to say anything but I gotta. One of the feral cats that I feed everyday got killed last night . With all the cats and kittens that already need homes it's really sad that anyone would actually let their cat have kittens. Your parents are fucking retards.
6/12/2006 1:34:52 PM
Just because YOUR vet didn't say it, does not mean that other's don't recommend it. I worked in a vet clinic too, but I don't go around telling everyone that something is wrong just because my vet said it wasn't ok. No matter how you feel about it; the vet did say it-it's over and done. The purpose of this thread was to find homes, not to put up with all the bickering and whining. It's too late for anything to be done about it, so I don't know why you people keep on with this. Just quit it adopt the kitten! And if you have no interest, then please don't even bother. Thanks [Edited on June 12, 2006 at 4:19 PM. Reason : ]

To actually hear a vet say that they recommend "just one litter" makes me think of a vet that shouldn't have gotten their license. There is no evidence that it does anything good and every vet association I can find will tell you that the risk of cancer will only increase with one litter. I'm sure the cat will love the chance to get mammary cancer.http://www.oregonvma.org/petowners/spayneuter.asphttp://www.vet.utk.edu/hero/education/spay.htmhttp://www.avma.org/careforanimals/animatedjourneys/readytoadopt/neuter.aspResources for others who think one litter is a good idea.PS- The kitten is cute, I hope you find her a home.
6/12/2006 5:37:38 PM
Like I said before, your opinions are too late. The vet said it, I don't understand why some of you don't understand that. For real though, please no more comments unless they're about these kittens. This thread will not stay around for other people to read later, so please put your facts somewhere where they will be seen by other people (The Lounge's animal thread).

I'm almost 100% sure the cat population problem is worse than the dog. If cats continuously reproduced at max rates, and none of them were fixed:In seven years one female cat and her offspring could theoretically produce 420,000 catsvs 67,000 in six years for a female dog and offspring.http://www.hsus.org/pets/issues_affecting_our_pets/pet_overpopulation_and_ownership_statistics/hsus_pet_overpopulation_estimates.htmlWith the rescue I foster with, dogs are adopted way faster than cats. In a situation where one person is looking for a dog, and one person is looking for a cat I would bet the dog person would be more willing to adopt an adult dog than the cat person is willing to adopt an adult cat.Fortunately a cat rescue can pull more cats at a time than we could pull dogs. While we pulled four dogs when we went to a shelter last week, Palisades cat rescue was able to pull something like three litters of kittens and their moms, as well as two other adult cats, because of available space.
6/13/2006 1:08:26 PM
All the kittens are gone to great, loving homes! Thank you to the ones who adopted them and the ones who wished that they could. And the rest of you who junked up my thread, I have nothing to say to you-except quit trashing people's kitten/puppy threads-you do it to everyone and we're tired of seeing it. Thanks!
