I got a seatbelt violation back in May and it's due June 15th so I sent in a money order today via the USPS. Then when I got back, I read over the ticket one more time and saw that I was supposed to include the damn thing with the money order. Should I appear in court on the court date with the ticket or call in and see if they'll let me send in the ticket in a separate envelope?

try not being such an idiot next time
6/6/2006 4:38:01 PM
how will they know what the money order is for when they get it?
6/6/2006 4:40:04 PM
It would have her name on it... they might be able to look her up in some database or something.

Call the court Clerk.
6/6/2006 4:44:44 PM
call the # on the back of the ticket and tell them what you did. then ask them, not tww.
6/6/2006 4:57:23 PM
unless you put the ticket # on the money order - you would have been better off buying a lottery ticket

Haha very funny. There's no phone number on there as far as I could tell so I'll look 'em up tomorrow in the phone book.

GO TO COURT!!!! Trust me on this one. My roommate had a similar thing happen; the cashiers office never recieved her money order with the ticket, even though she sent them in the same envelope and she didn't go to court....RPD came to our house and arrested her for failure to appear for the ticket!!! Turns out, the cashiers office did have both (she simply overlooked them which sucks since my roommate had to go to jail anyway since RPD came on a Sunday night so the cashiers office was closed). I would definitely go to court because this is a huge pain if it happens to you!!!!

they wont fucking arrest you for a minor traffic violation failure to pay.your roomate lied like a motherfucker to you
6/6/2006 9:17:22 PM
^ Um, no. I was there at the house when it happened.........the cashiers office seriously lost her payment, and so instead of her court appearance being waived, RPD came to our house and took her downtown for failure to appear. While her ticket was more than just a seatbelt violation, ANY problem with a ticket and the cashiers office needs to be addressed in person, IMO. The cashier's office apologized to my roommate when they found her payment, but the damage was already done seeing as how they came and picked her up for basically no reason at all.and one more thing...no matter what anyone thinks....it's in your own personal interest to keep things clear with the law since you have no idea what they will do with an money order with no ticket attached to it....I'd definitely call but if they can't find out where your money order is then you should go to court[Edited on June 6, 2006 at 9:21 PM. I know three people that have gotten hauled in for drinking ticket failure to appears.

how the fuck can a person be that god damned stupid to not include their ticket?
6/6/2006 11:35:50 PM
I was going 55 in a 35 once and cried and the cop gave me a "Seatbelt Violation" as opposed to a "going 20 over in a Residential Area"

First of all, thanks for all the advice, everyone.

Well, I am nice...and I honestly hope you get it sorted out in a timely fashion and do not end up handcuffed or incarcerated

Urinating in public. Here is a test, go get a speeding ticket today and then just don't show up to court. See what happens.
6/7/2006 10:28:14 AM
no see, I obey the laws, hence I have no problems with any of this.
6/7/2006 10:33:55 AM
^my roommate's ticket was for consumption of alcohol on state fairgrounds.......so quit acting like you know everything about the law. They WILL come and get you for minor misdemeanor tickets, as it has happened to my roommate as well as several other people on this board that have posted. RPD can and will come to your house for a failure to appear if they deem it important- it doesn't matter what you think

Ok, they've had me on hold for about fifteen minutes now, I'm listening to elevator music on my speakerphone and surfing TWW at the same time. >.<
