Mapquest says 17 to the crazy detour through Edenton (Won't be taking that) and then on the 64-Bypass. If I remember 17 is a slow ride and travels through all those towns. Is there a faster route to Nags Head?

I have pondered this route myself.17 is probably the best.I'd almost say hit 117 and find a route from there but thats an hour up 40 near faison.

oh I think because that was when US 64 was still two-lane through that segment and it was slow going in the summer time, now there is a new 70mph bypass from the end of Plymouth to the bridge at Columbia for US 64, it is very nice.
