pretty self explanitory question. my windows media player won't play avi files. i spent like 2 hours downloading braveheart last night and it won;t play. wish i had previewed.
A) is there a way to fix this?
B) any suggestions on a better media player download. i hate WMPlayer.

you can't preview an avi file typically - the "header" info is usually at the end of the file

you don't have the codec is probably the right answer

you should google this though - you shouldn't expect any great answers here for questions like this

Sounds like you need some avi codecs. Try going here: http://www.divx.com/divx/windows/ You can get the codecs and a player for free. If the video/audio still doesn't come up their player does a pretty good job of telling you which one (codec) is missing. You can then google to get the missing codec.
