Red Sox (for Mueller)It looks like KC is leaning towards picking Luke Hochevar, who was drafted by the Dodgers last year but didn't sign. In my opinion, this is a bad move for KC, b/c they are not exactly frugal with their money, and Hochevar wants an enormous amount of money up front. One of my customers is a Giants scout, and we were talking about who they were looking at. I mentioned Andrew Miller from UNC, and he said that they would probably have no shot at it, but looking at this:http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/a...ives&fext=.jsp, he may be wrong
6/6/2006 9:56:54 AM
everything i've read has miller going to the royals with the first pickand your link doesn't work

http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article_perspectives.jsp?ymd=20060605&content_id=1489090&vkey=perspectives&fext=.jspTry thatand Miller wants a huge signing bonus, so he will probably fall
6/6/2006 10:31:29 AM
I'm pretty interested in this draft. I know a few guys who have a very decent shot at getting selected today or tomorrow.

what are the chances of these guys actually paying their bills and making a living outta baseball?I mean, I have no clue about baseball drafts since there's so many "other leagues" to pass through before the MLB.

6/6/2006 7:56:33 PM
everyone on this message board is probably eligible for the draft.guys like marcus vick and eric montross have been drafted in the last couple of rounds before if i'm not mistaken
6/6/2006 8:36:11 PM
My roomate from freshman year is Chris Hatcher. With Hatcher going in the fifth round, it marked the highest pick of a Seahawk since the 1996 draft when the St. Louis Cardinals drafted Wilmington native Bryan Britt in the third round. It was also the first time in school history that UNCW had two players picked in the first 10 rounds of the 50-round event. I am pretty sure if you get picked in the top 5 rounds you want to go. Oh yeah and John Raynors cocky ass went in the 9th rd...to the marlins...i think he will go as well. He is from right around here in Benson and I never understood why state didn't go after him???
6/6/2006 9:49:59 PM
chris archer from my high school (Clayton) went in the fifth round. Good kid, was comitted to state, signed with Miami, will be intersting to see what he decides to do.
6/6/2006 10:10:10 PM
I cannot believe Gib fell to the 11th round....hopefully he will come back for his senior year now and keep kicking ass. Also it really surprised me that Diaz got picked when he isn't much of an offensive threat.
6/6/2006 10:25:27 PM
Yeah but he was amazing defensively this year. I think defensive shortstops are becoming more of an attraction than they used to be. Think Red Sox.. they had the hitting, didnt need it at SS just needed a good defensive SS so they get Gonzalez. Maybe surprised he got picked as high
6/6/2006 10:35:02 PM
Kinda dissapointed Matty Camp didnt go higher. But he is gonna work hard wherever he plays and somebody is gonna get a good ball player
6/6/2006 11:31:32 PM
6/7/2006 8:47:26 AM
Some of yall boys might know this guy.Adam Paul (UNC-W) taken in the 20th Rd by the SF GiantsAdam is a friend of mine and went to Athens Drive HS
6/7/2006 12:23:27 PM
Me and Daniel Bard played on the same MARA Little league team in Charlotte. We were the only 2 pitchers and our team went 0-17.
6/7/2006 3:02:06 PM
Aragon picked up today by the NYY in the 22nd round. Making the total number of NC State players taken in the draft 8. http://gopack.cstv.com/sports/m-basebl/spec-rel/060606aaa.html
6/7/2006 11:03:55 PM
cant believe no one has mentioned this but jeff stallings was drafted in the 18th.
6/7/2006 11:25:41 PM
why would a team take a guy like Stallings in the 18th rd who was out this past year with TJ surgery? What will Jeff do? I'd sign the deal if I was him.
6/8/2006 12:32:36 AM
don't ever ask why in the MLB draft
6/8/2006 12:34:09 AM
