AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahhahhahhahaaha!!!truth hurts.[Edited on June 5, 2006 at 11:20 PM. Reason : now emailing this to all my UVA friends]
6/5/2006 11:18:36 PM
haha someone should call in and say NC State and see what he says
6/5/2006 11:26:05 PM
apparently they didnt consider UNC.
6/5/2006 11:40:58 PM
actually, i dont think anyone would be dumb enough to say North Carolina is one of the top 10 states for football in the country
6/5/2006 11:43:13 PM
god, that was beautifulBAHAHAH holy shit that was hilarious
6/5/2006 11:44:58 PM
was that completely....random?like...i think its hilarious and all, but he must have a shitty radio show to just all the sudden dogg on UVA football. why not Duke football? or any other expensive smarty pants school? i laughed hard, no doubtbut i fail to see the point
6/5/2006 11:57:05 PM
^ because UVA thinks that they are a powerhouse football school unlike Duke, and just because it's fuckin hillarious...that was funny as hell
6/5/2006 11:59:37 PM
some dude called in and said that virginia should be considered one of the top 10 states for college football
6/6/2006 12:13:13 AM
Yeah I heard that the other day. It was on Cowherds show.
6/6/2006 12:15:18 AM

^^ at least we've won SOMETHING, at some point in our history...
6/6/2006 8:15:55 AM
agreed, but that doesn't mean we should get an of the respect that so many of our fans think the world owes us.you claim that uva is living in the glory of their number one ranking....in the same sense, we are still trying to live in the glory of a championship we won 23 years ago.
6/6/2006 8:25:57 AM
it's true... but you have to recognize the difference between living in 2 national championships, and wallowing in 4 weeks with a number one ranking...it's still stupid though, we constantly accuse UNC fans of living in the past when we're horrible about doing it... every fanbase with a history is guilty of it... it's just kinda what happens, particularly when you're not at a championship level anymore
6/6/2006 8:28:34 AM
i agree
6/6/2006 8:29:00 AM
^^ diff is unc won one in 92, and um, yeah again in 2005. UNC fans can pretty say whatever the hell they want when it comes to basketball folks. We are their bitches, and considering we haven't beaten UNC in ANY of the major sports since god damn 2003, all of us can just stfu until we actually do something.[Edited on June 6, 2006 at 9:43 AM. Reason : wow i didn't read too well, basically i'm reiterating what he is saying.]
6/6/2006 9:42:44 AM
most of the "living int he past" accusations came BEFORE the 2005 season... it actually hasn't been repeated much since then...
6/6/2006 9:47:28 AM
^^ we've beaten them in baseball fairly consistently in recent years. do you only consider bball and fball the only major sports. i'd put baseball in there as one of the major sports since it is a revenue generating sport like basketball and football. Also UNC won in 93 not 92. That was Duke.[Edited on June 6, 2006 at 11:23 AM. Reason : ]
6/6/2006 11:22:53 AM
college baseball has no where near the popularity of college football and basketball.the mlb brings in money, but im willing to bet that college baseball is not even in the same ballpark as c. football and c. basketball when it comes to generating revenue.
6/6/2006 11:25:39 AM
yes, but it is followed regularly by a good percentage of the fans.
6/6/2006 11:27:53 AM
what do you consider a "good percentage"? i doubt even a majority of fans follow it regularly.but thats besides the point....im merely pointing out that college baseball is not considered a revenue generating sport.
6/6/2006 11:30:12 AM
how did this turn in to a unc thread
6/6/2006 1:01:52 PM
UVA = Virginia's version of UNC
6/6/2006 1:13:52 PM

6/6/2006 1:20:53 PM

6/6/2006 2:29:05 PM
yes.
6/6/2006 2:37:58 PM
^^^they were talking about college football and they meant states like Florida, Texas, California, PA, Alabama, etc. which have multiple schools with national success/recognitionNC may have great highschool talent or nfl results, but that wasn't what they were discussing
6/6/2006 4:02:26 PM
k. i'd still put us in a top 10 of college football states. i'm not trying to argue, i'm just saying in my opinion. in no order, here would be my list:floridatexascaliforniapennalabamameeechigannorth carolinageorgiaoklahomavirginia*they're really the only state left, so they're in the top 10 by lack of other eligible schools. i don't think another state has had 2 or more successful football programs. the following individual schools that pretty much identify their state's football success: notre dame, nebraska, colorado, washington, clemson (usc has an overall losing record in football), lsu, and maryland.[Edited on June 6, 2006 at 4:58 PM. OHIO, perhaps
6/6/2006 4:57:45 PM
ohio state is the only program in that state too.
6/6/2006 4:59:02 PM
virginia tech is the only program in virginia and they've never won anything
6/6/2006 4:59:44 PM
they won the acc title in '04. and they're probably top 25 in all-time wins. virginia sucks, but they've atleast been decent throughout their history. like i said though, i only put them in there because there are no other states left. oregon maybe, but va tech's successes gives the state of virginia the edge, imo.[Edited on June 6, 2006 at 5:04 PM. yes, oregon. both oregon and oregon state are decent teams. as of recently, oregon has been in the top 25 the past 2 seasons.i wasn't aware miami (oh) had that many wins. like i said, it's just an opinion. i wasn't googling records and shit. i honestly don't think my list is that bad, or that far off. and you're sitting there nitpicking about 1 team on my list.
6/6/2006 5:15:38 PM
because that one team is the reason this thread was created
6/6/2006 5:55:55 PM
funny, UVA football is usually one of the most physical football teams in the ACC
6/6/2006 6:00:11 PM
i dont see how you can put nc ahead of ohio oregon virginia nebraska ten louis. and for the "one program" argument. most of those 1 programs have accomplished more than every program in our state combined.
6/6/2006 6:20:48 PM
uh id put Indiana in way before NCNotre Dame, Purdue?
6/6/2006 6:30:05 PM
