yeah, lotsa lobster up there, but it's still pretty expensive.the LLBean store is 24/7/365. if you go, notice that none of the doors have locks - because they NEVER close. seriously though, there are a shitton of outlet stores up there in the same area - shopping insanity

^^^hopefully not a factor for anyone going to med schoolactually, it contributes to his cost of living by making things he pays for more expensive.

My friend goes to Bates College in Lewiston - the second largest city in Maine.Apparently they have a McLobster Roll at McD's there...eww. I smell food poisoning.I don't know why the cost of living is so high, but if you want I can ask her things for you - she's actually going to be interning at Cape Cod this summer at a theater company (I am soo going to visit), but she's been up there for a good while. I can only reason that perhaps they have to "import" a lot of goods from other parts of the country, which is why it is so costly...I can bet they don't have a great deal agricultural things up there with the exception of blueberries.

My dad is from Maine.. some things you need to know...1: It's fucking COLD. Bring your long underwear.2: The outlet shopping experience is pretty good. LL Bean has some amazing shit up there.3: These people live, eat, breathe, and sleep in seafood. I hope you're not allergic. Also, get lots of lobster. Its the only place in the country where it's actually cheaper to buy lobster than heroin. 4: It's fucking COLD. One day you may look out your window and see people running in shorts and a tshirt. They're natives.. 40 to them is like 90 to us. Don't be fooled. 5: There is nothing in Maine. Nothing. If you need something... drive to Boston.

I went to high school with a guy that goes to Bowdoin in Brunswick. He was the guy in the circle of friends that was only kept around to be made fun of. He's pretty much a total asshole now.

my grandparents live in maine....so ive been there a lot. i always have a good time, but i don't know if id want to live there.take a weekend and go up to bar harbor on mount desert island. theres a nice drive around the arcadia national park (lots of cool things to see) and there are quite a few breweries on the island. we had a good time just driving from brewery to brewery drinking beers at each stop. bar harbor has some cool restuarants and bars as well.
