I've wanted to see this but when they came to Boston they sold out so fast. Plus its costs a shitton of money.

Is Kristen Chenoweth still in it? Her voice bothers me more often than not.

Kristen Chenoweth and Idina Menzel haven't been in Wicked in over a year (and then some). It's a damn good musical though, I saw it twice in NYC when it first came out.]

Ive got 2 great tix for Saturday evening's performance at DPAC.

This season's DPAC lineup was amazingly strong. I pitty those who enjoy this stuff and didn't get season tickets.Cirque Du Soleil: IlluminationsGreaseThe Phantom of the OperaMamma MiaSpring Awakening (Amazing score, but very obvious that that's all they spent money on)WickedBeauty and the BeastNext year's lineup . . . not so much. We'll probably see Blue Man Group, Hair, and the Lion King. Maybe Young Frankenstein. Still have to see if season tickets would be cheaper than buying each individually.
4/21/2010 12:49:55 PM
I'm dying to attend this.. TWWers.. PM me if you got tickets and for some reason cannot go!
4/21/2010 12:51:54 PM
DPAC is pretty awesome. I was so impressed by the smiling faces, people helping you get to the theater safely from parking, the general attitude by everything that I wrote them a letter. Top notch facility.

Yeah, I love what they have done with that 'Tobacco Village' area in general. Great atmosphere. Only problem is that you _have_ to get reservations for food before hand because everything is packed. Well, everything but Cafe Zen, which has exceedingly poor service.

Tobacco Road just opened a new location at the Tobacco District. perfect for pre-Wickedso, they have a daily lottery for $25 tickets. show up 2.5 hours before any show, put your name in the lottery and 30 minutes later they contact you if you won. great for those of us who have flexible schedules. saves ya $15

^ Essentially, they took a script / location that was made in the 1890s by a sexually repressed man with daddy issues. They then added modernized songs, had a single set that was supposed to express everything from a school / jail/ tree by a stream / graveyard, and completely neglected any and all props (i.e. they stair at the ground and you are expected to assume there is a tombstone there. It also had some of those endings where they had 2-3 unresolved items that they just resolve in 30 seconds. Moral of the story is that all adults are evil and their goal in life is to hold back their children.Great songs, terrible play.l[Edited on April 21, 2010 at 7:52 PM. Reason : ]

NO PROPS, NO DICE
4/21/2010 8:36:12 PM
Eh, it was just a whole lot of nuisances. I hated that you had no idea what the location was unless you were actively reading the handout. Otherwise you had to wait a few minutes into each scene in for one of them to say something like "I'm glad to have run into you in this hayloft". And then there was the jail scene where they were playing dice and yet didn't have the decency to use actual dice. Or wait, no, I think they were supposed to be jacking off. Or wait, actually, I think they were doing both in a big group. I suppose I am saying it would have been nice if they had actual dice so that I could tell who was jacking off and who was playing dice. Err wait . . .[Edited on April 21, 2010 at 9:29 PM. Reason : ]
