6/2/2006 1:33:02 PM
your employer doesn't have benefits?
6/2/2006 1:42:16 PM
Benefits? I work for the family company. There are three of us...myself, my brother-in-law, and my father.Dad basically said to go get insurance and the company would pay for it. He wasn't banking on more than about 300 dolla a month. My bro-in-law is a year younger than I am, and he's probably in worse shape, health-wise, but his payments are on the order of $150 a month.

get a job working for the statethey give us great health insurance so they can keep their slave laborers employees alive longer
6/2/2006 2:23:37 PM
I got quoted like 900 a month by BCBS. Ouch.
6/2/2006 2:38:55 PM
HOLY SHIT. What in the hell's up with all this nonsense?I need health insurance.
6/2/2006 2:40:09 PM
I had BCBS blue advantage for a couple months and it was only $75/mo. My wife had it for only a few bucks more.
6/2/2006 2:40:53 PM
I actually called them up and asked them waht I had done to get the "Aids/Cancer/Diabetics/Wets Himself" rate. They were not amused.

^^Well...what did they say?I was thinking about something...one of the questions on the application was concerning prostate enlargement or any prostate problems.I remember about five years ago, I actually went to WakeMed and got checked out because I had some pretty bad pain in my wang/urinary tract when I went to piss. Turns out my prostate was inflamed and a little enlarged. Now the big deal is this: I had been having phenomenal amounts of sex for the past month or two, to the point where my dick was raw. Multiple times a day, every day. Right after a long dry spell.Other than that I have had one prostate infection about 12 years ago. Got checked for that, given doxycycline, and it cleared up. Nothing since, except occasional pain here and there when urinating after sex or wanking it. But that's happened ever since I started wanking it and it started spitting back at me.[Edited on June 2, 2006 at 3:40 PM. Reason : explanations...]

look into their health savings plans.. might get out cheaper that way
6/2/2006 5:18:51 PM
Why in the hell was it so high?Surely they gave you a reason!!!You can also get a quote through assurant health. I've used them before. Why the hell was it so high!!??
6/2/2006 8:10:53 PM
The quote I got from BCBS recently was about $800/month, and it wouldn't cover preexisting conditions for the first year I had it. So, basically, a $10,000 buy-in. One of the main reasons I've started excercising and eating right.
6/2/2006 8:58:20 PM
jesus christ, wtf is up with those rates
6/2/2006 10:03:13 PM
I'm fat, I have migraines, and I was taking antidepressants for about five years.I hardly ever go to the doctor, and basically the only expense to the insurance company would be a bottle of Midrin (for migraines) once every three or four months. I sure as shit hope I don't get in a car wreck or something, because I'll be fucked.
6/2/2006 10:26:34 PM
jesus christ thats fucked up. i got quoted 73 a month from BCBSand I have a LONG history of joint problems, sports injuries, sinus problems etc.[Edited on June 2, 2006 at 10:49 PM. Reason : .]
6/2/2006 10:49:15 PM
You have GOT to be mistaken. It had to have been $740 for 6 months, not 1 month. $123/month is a reasonable quote, depending on what coverage you're looking at and how high a deductible you would have.
6/2/2006 11:08:20 PM
What the fuck? Do you have a family? My BCBS high deductible plan is 88/moYou can't go comprehensive, you can't go dental, you can't go eyeMine is $1500 deductible and then 0%/0% on EVERYTHING!
6/2/2006 11:24:58 PM
That can't be right. For a family of four, with- one parent grossly overweight, long history of mental health problems, and fibromyalgia- one parent moderately overweight, with chronic heart problems and diabetes, and mental health issues- two kidsMy parents were paying ~$850/month.
6/2/2006 11:36:36 PM
Well, let me join your family.
6/2/2006 11:37:09 PM
There's nothing that could make that worth it That was United Healthcare, a year or two back? Now we've got some noname policy that is pretty much good only for inpatient...ok, that's a bit of an exaggeration, but the coverage is so shitty we're all behaving like we're uninsured.I'm considering working at starbucks so I can have decent health insurance.
6/2/2006 11:46:26 PM
My quote was per month.I am calling them Monday and raising hell about this shit. Of course, they'll just smile, nod, and tell me to pay up if I want insurance.
6/3/2006 3:56:00 AM
...that cannot be correct.Unless they know something is seriously wrong with you that you do not...[Edited on June 3, 2006 at 4:16 AM. Reason : i refuse to believe it :-p]
6/3/2006 4:16:28 AM
I am thinking about increaseing my deductible after this year, I dont even use it and i am paying 123 a month. When i got it a year and a half ago, it was under 100 for 1k deductible. I just looked at all there plans, the best seller is 2500 deductible and about 10 less a month, i think i will switch to that one. It has the same stuff my plan has except the deductible of course. If something bad happens, i figure it will cost more than 2500.
6/3/2006 7:12:30 PM
ive been risking it and havent had health insurance in a couple years. since then ive had bronchitis 2 timesdoctor: $75z-pack: $60tussionex: $65so ive spent about 400 on healthcare in 2 years. probably time to stop gambling

start a thread on your divorce. i'm curious how it happened. 50% of all marriages end in divorce. wtf? i'm the type that would stick it out no matter what.
6/4/2006 5:59:29 PM
Oh, I would have stuck it out. I didn't have a whole lot of choice, though. I wanted to, but she didn't at the time. Unfortunately I think there's too much water under the bridge, and too many things have happened to make reconciliation a really viable idea. We could reconcile, and get back together, but there are serious trust issues that would require lots of work. It's very sad...I think we both feel sad about it. It's a shame, because there are so many things I love about her, and I still love her. If I was to really get emotional about it all, I'd say I love her more than I've ever loved anyone in my life. But her lifestyle, upbringing, and values don't really coincide very well with mine, though there was a time when we were pretty damn compatible. I personally think that you can write your own destiny (at least for the most part), and that life is what you make of it. A lot of life is hard work, and being with somebody in a long-term highly committed relationship is often no picnic. I think we could have pulled it off, but it would have taken a lot of work. I really think that we needed outside help, pretty much from day one. We just never got it.There are a lot of things I would have done differently though, if I were to go through with marriage to the same person. I'd have handled things differently. We're not divorced yet; our mandatory one-year period of separation will be officially completed at the end of August. I have to admit, this is a heartbreaker, and I'm actually not handling it as well now as when we first got separated. I'm not looking forward to the actual divorce. I'm only hoping and wishing that she finds her way, and that her life gets in gear, and she's happy and comfortable. I can take care of myself. I'll be okay one day...physically, anyway. I'm far from okay right now emotionally.
6/4/2006 11:25:55 PM
I recently got quoted at nearly $600/mo because I had high blood pressure. I double-checked to make sure it was by the month and not every 3 or 6 months, and it was in fact every month.
6/4/2006 11:35:18 PM
seriously, folks. Use that college education and get a job that pays health insurance.
6/5/2006 12:16:04 AM
damn my BCBS was 95/month
6/5/2006 12:19:21 AM
I think its because you're fat. 275 lbs isn't healthy....unless you're 6'8".
6/5/2006 8:14:10 AM
I dunno about healthcare, until I get married I probably just won't ever go to the doctor. It'd be crazy expensive for me anyway because I've already had several surgeries. I'm more worried about paying my car insurance after I graduate. Good god that's gonna be high, I had to sign a waiver letting them charge my parents over the legal limit.

Try Aetna. Also Use BC Blue Options, I can give you the number to an agent that can get you $125 (or a little over) a month.
6/5/2006 1:39:05 PM
^Yeah. I bet. Just like my brother in law's got his at 150 dolla a month. He got in before he established any pre-existing conditions. Goddammit.
