So I installed this okidata 5150n printer to a computer...we have used the printer for the first couple years we had it in another office and it worked fine...it was hooked up with a cat5 connection to our hub...the new install spot doesnt have an extra cat5 cable (i'll run one if i have to) and the printer doesnt have a parallel port so my option, without running a new cat5, was to install it usb...so i installed it and it worked...but sometimes it just stops working...nothing in eventvwr...just stops...i can plug a usb floppy into the same port when the printer stops working and the usb floppy drive works fine...also when you reboot the system you can print again, but i dont want the user to have to reboot when they want to print...theres another printer in there hooked up parallel so the user is not in a bind...also the Print Spooler Service remains running so thats not the problem...i have heard about USB problems on emachines but in System Devices there arent any USB errors...ideas?

Possibly a USB power draw issue. I know plugging USB laser printers into laptops is a BAD idea. I've also had issues with different models of Dell business line computers. Anyways, grab a powered hub and see if that helps. No guarantees on it working ... hardware could completely crap out, regardless of the hub.
