The 43-year-old Clemens, who will be entering his 23rd major league season, is agreeing first to a minor league contract that pays $322,000 over the five-month minor league season, and his first start is likely to be at Lexington, Ky., the Class A team where his oldest son, Koby, plays. When he is added to the major league roster, he gets a one-year contract worth $22,000,022 -- his uniform number is 22. Because he won't be playing the full season, he gets only a prorated percentage of that, which would come to about $12.25 million if he rejoins Houston in late June. The tentative goal is to have him start against the Minnesota Twins on June 22 -- if he's put on the big league roster on that day, he would earn $12,632,307.

(some stupid conspiracy i heard on the radio, i dont really believe it but whatever....)'roids.50game suspension. funny how he signs a deal right after the Astros 50th game. Just checked, they are 27-27 right now, which is 54 games... so it fits about right. And it is strange how a guy that old still is still throwing pure gas and is competitive as him.**Again, don't bust me because I don't necessarily believe in it, but it makes you think a little.
6/1/2006 10:40:37 AM
that makes very little sensehe wasn't on a team's roster was he? i don't think you can miss games you're not a part of a team forI'VE BEEN ON SUSPENSION SINCE THE 1981 SEASON
