It wasn't so bad saying "Bring 'em on" moreso then the inability to get the fucking job done of helping to establish a new regime without pissing on everyone else in the Middle East. Whatever happened to "speaking softly but carrying a big stick"?

I love how he says some stupid-ass soundbite he made was a big mistake, but the incredible debacle that is the Iraq war is still a shining beacon of freedom to the rest of the world, apparently.Fuck him. God bless our troops, their families, and the people of Iraq.

Bush is a fuckin idiot.
5/26/2006 9:25:00 AM
^ Yes, a Yale graduate who ran Texas and became President of the most powerful and influencial country in the world is an idiot.Besides being a whiny fucking critic, what have you done with your 21 years thus far?
5/26/2006 9:31:09 AM
^Anyone can succeed if they have enough money and the right people behind them. I do agree with that poster. Bush is an idiot, and does not really control this country. Anyone who thinks he does, is in the same league of idiocy that he is.

I AM A 20 SOMETHING YEAR OLD COLLEGE KID I KNOW EVERYTHING
5/26/2006 9:40:09 AM
5/26/2006 9:50:43 AM
Let me get this straight...So being in your 20s and in college means you can't have an opinion on politics?Last time I checked, this is a fuckin' democracy. Rather than shouting down people for expressing an opinion with a bunch of bullshit about how 20somethings haven't accomplished anything and therefore have no right to express themselves, why don't you actually defend your side?Oh wait. You can't. Because so many of the things Bush has done are indefensible. As I mentioned in my last post, the Iraq war turned into a debacle. You can't argue with that. They said it would be over in a matter of weeks, and we're now in year three. No end in sight. Many of us have lost friends over there. It's a fucking personal issue for a lot of people. Losing someone close to you transcends politics. It's long past time for an actual debate over whether we need to be there, whether we were fooled into supporting it, what the actual motives for it were. But all you right wingers can do is just attack the other side for whatever bullshit reason you can come up with. In this case, their age. On a damn college forum. Christ. This is what's ruined politics. It's just a bunch of epithets and personal attacks rather than any substantive discussion. The 2004 election wasn't a referendum on Bush's policies, it was a stupid-ass debate over whether John Kerry shot himself to get a fucking purple heart. These tactics amount to nothing more than calling people's attention away from what they should be thinking about and discussing. Stop distracting people from the real issues and come to the table for an actual debate.Tell us why you support Bush, if you do. Tell us why you support continuing the occupation of Iraq. Back it up with some facts.
5/26/2006 10:07:05 AM
if bush is such an idiot, how did he get elected over al boring and botox kerrylooks like the democrats are the idiots that cant win an election
5/26/2006 10:07:11 AM
AND...if bush is such an idiot who doenst run the country...then why are yall so mad at him??...its not his fault we are in iraq...its not his fault Katrina got botched...none of this is his fault....why the bush bashing??
5/26/2006 10:10:13 AM
people bash Bush because its the cool thing to do cause they're rebellious college kids, woo! fuck bush woooooo!

5/26/2006 10:13:18 AM
5/26/2006 10:14:36 AM
if Bush is a fool, how foolish and dumb are the people that he beat to become president^obviously some poll means a whole lotlike those exit polls that had Kerry winning the election]
5/26/2006 10:15:02 AM
I certainly don't think I know everything. You're right, John Kerry voted for the Iraq war. And a lot of us supported it at the beginning. For a couple of reasons: A) we were told there were WMDs all over the damn place, and B) we were told it would be an easy, quick war.In response to that and your other point about "weeks hahaha," let me refer you to this 2002 CBS news article:Nov. 15, 2002Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld (CBS/AP) (CBS) There will be no World War III starting with Iraq, Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld declared Thursday, and rejected concerns that a war would be a quagmire."The idea that it's going to be a long, long, long battle of some kind I think is belied by the fact of what happened in 1990," he said on an Infinity Radio call-in program. He said the U.S. military is stronger than it was during the Persian Gulf War, while Iraq's armed forces are weaker."Five days or five weeks or five months, but it certainly isn't going to last any longer than that," he said. "It won't be a World War III."---That kind of stuff is what convinced people to go along with the war. If they had actually thought this thing through and recognized how difficult it was actually going to be (Which many analysts were predicting before the war started btw) Our Sec. of Defense told the nation it wouldn't be any more than five months. What would you say we've accomplished in 3 years over there? Do you think it's okay that the administration was making predictions like this? This affects lives. I've lost a friend. A lot of people have, and are continuing to. So the war isn't going according to plan, as you say. We agree on that. But do you think continuing it is going to make it suddenly start working?By the way, I do appreciate your willingness to discuss this with me rather than hurl epithets. I respect conservatives that are actually willing to talk substantively. I have no respect for liberals or conservatives that just parrot talking points and call the other side nazis or commies or whatever.
5/26/2006 10:17:48 AM
exactly, i respect anybody who doesnt rattle off the same cliche bullshit over and over againbut any war is bad, people are going to die, the 5 months prediction was dumb to make...but what do we do, immediately withdrawl all troops? the reasons why we went to war dont matter that much right now, because we are at war...instead of debating if the war is just or not or if we shouldve gone in in the first place, we need to realize we are in a war, and focus more on the best ways to carry it out and resolve it
5/26/2006 10:23:12 AM
5/26/2006 10:24:52 AM
Bush is certainly the most powerful single INDIVIDUAL in the country but corporations certainly have plenty of influence in a good number of large issues]
5/26/2006 10:26:07 AM
sure they do...but this guy is just a bush hating moron who will repeat anything he heard at democratic underground.com.....

5/26/2006 2:33:11 PM
I think Democrats pride themselves on their diversity, mix of different backgrounds, races, cultures, ability to co-exist, etc etc....but its almost like theres so much diversity, that they can't all agree on anything or any decent candidate
5/26/2006 3:12:37 PM
I'll give you that the Democrats haven't had a real "party line" to speak of besides "Bush is bad."It's really sad. I wish a good third party would come along, but instead they're all crazies and assholes, so I'm stuck with the Democrats.
5/26/2006 3:45:19 PM
I'm stuck with not voting until theres a candidate I feel strongly about
5/26/2006 3:52:15 PM
hey...all im saying is....pick your line....dont be mad at bush if he isnt in charge....
5/26/2006 3:54:53 PM
The soap box needs one of these threads every once in a while. Its hilarious.
5/26/2006 4:11:56 PM
i don't know how many of you listened to the press conference last night. but it was more clear than ever that while bush may not be an idiot, tony blair is FAR smarter than bush. his answers were so much more intelligently formed, i was kind of embarassed for our country.(and i don't think it's just the "he must be smart because of that british accent" sort of phenomenon)
5/26/2006 4:54:11 PM
^If you like him so much, why don't you marry him?
5/26/2006 6:30:32 PM
Bush and Sarijoul sittin in a tree....
5/26/2006 11:04:42 PM
^^^I actually agree with that. I watched the press conference as well, and got the same opinion. If Bush could have been somewhat as articulate as Blair is, then I think he may actually have a little more support for what we're doing. Obviously, his words aren't breeding victory, but you can actually understand his message. However, it seemed like the Brit press was just there to ask Bush and Blair about Tony's possible departure.[Edited on May 27, 2006 at 2:10 AM. Reason : ask]
