5/25/2006 11:50:25 AM
no i dont really care but i know plenty of people had that sentiment when his book first came outhaha i remember some ignorant jokers on TWW adamantly dismissing the possibility that Barry Bonds might have used steroids

haha msb is still in denial"innocent til proven guilty, innocent til proven guilty"you're probably mad that I saw his size 8 7/8" fitted hats and said damn that fucker is juicing and you didnt jump to that accurate conclusion
5/25/2006 1:44:18 PM
Again, you lack basic comprehension skills if you think that I thought Bonds never used steroids or that there was no way he could have. I think the discussion was simply over your head."innocent til proven guilty" is something that this country seems to have failed to grasp in recent times... heck, just look at Duke Lacrosse. People put no thought into what forms their opinions and make no attempt at atleast entertaining other possibilities. Sometimes you need a Devil's Advocate. Personally I don't see why people care so much about Bonds specifcally. I've never cared for him, but I see no need for an asterisk, no need for a ban, no need for stripping of stats, etc. Everyone is so caught up on power hitters having an advantage but gives next to no thought about the pitchers, who probably have even more to gain from using illegal steroids.

everyone did steroids, ehhere i thought bonds was getting all this attention because he was moving from 3rd to 2nd in the all time homeruns list and aaron and ruth dont play anymoreoh yeah and he was juicingbtw i'm not specifically talking to you msb, and yeah in criminal proceedings people are technically supposed to be innocent until proven guiltybut a few years ago when i was saying bonds was juiced, plenty of people, again not you necessarily, but plenty of people were trying to convince me that he was just a hard worker and he went to the gym a lot and took protein supplements...they were naive as shit...they talked mad shit to me and now they arent fessing up to being pwnt by bonds' grand jury testimony

Oh, I was one of the more prominent people in those threads talking against you, but never on the belief that he never did and never could have. I seriously don't remember anyone thinking like that. I offered up plenty of plausible reasons to combat the "damning" evidence against him but it was more Devil's Advocate to reinforce the whole "innocent until proven guilty" mantra... oh, and its more than simple civil code, its common human decency. People said that there was no way he could be that freakishly huge and not take steroids... I simply pointed out that he wasn't really freakishly huge when looking at pro athletes in general, that his physical increase was consistent over his career, that other "clean" athletes had more substantial growth over shorter periods of time, that his performance throughout his career showed he was perfectly capable of performing at that high level (unlike Roger Maris), and that there is great hypocrisy in condemning Bonds yet celebrating others who "cheated", like Gaylord Perry and Wille Mays. Never once did I say that I thought Bonds was clean (nor did any of the people who agreed with me). We simply felt that it was asinine to condemn him without being privy to the details of what went on given all the possibilities.

i just thought back then that it was pretty obvious that he was using steroidsand i was right about that aspect of it
