Last season was bad, really bad. It was rough watching that underachieving bullshit all last year. Since I know over the last two years that you all have cared about Volunteer football soooo much, I decided to make a thread to follow the course of the season. The schedule is as rough as ever this year, with a lot of SEC teams predicting to be "peaking" or putting it together this year. Here are my initial (May) thoughts:California Knoxville, Tenn. - very tough opener.. I call a very very close WAir Force Knoxville, Tenn. - W Florida Knoxville, Tenn. - LMarshall (Homecoming) Knoxville, Tenn. - WMemphis Memphis, Tenn. - WGeorgia Athens, Ga. - LAlabama Knoxville, Tenn. - W South Carolina Columbia, S.C. - another close one... LLSU Knoxville, Tenn. - LArkansas Fayetteville, Ark. - WVanderbilt Nashville, Tenn. - W (this wont happen again, not with SuperCutler gone)Kentucky Knoxville, Tenn. - W 8-4, some shitty fucking bowl

nc state will do better than tennessee
5/22/2006 9:21:23 PM
I would change the SC game to a win.Other than that, you're probably pretty close.
5/22/2006 9:21:47 PM
^^ maybe... but you wouldnt with that schedule^ yeah, you could probably alternate them and Bama... both could go either way[Edited on May 22, 2006 at 9:22 PM. Reason : d]
5/22/2006 9:22:01 PM
Good thing I get student tickets now so I can go to all the games.
5/22/2006 9:25:59 PM
fucker... I got season tickets to State but no way I could afford them for UT. But I will be going back for 2-3 games anyways and I already got a hotel for the South Carolina game
5/22/2006 9:27:13 PM
not a particularly tough schedule
5/22/2006 9:28:23 PM
Yep, can't schedule the division II powerhouses State gets.
5/22/2006 9:29:13 PM
right... we'll see how many of them are in the Top 25, I would guess at least half
5/22/2006 9:29:14 PM
well you wont have the automatic loss against ND this yearso thats goodi wouldnt sleep on the @arkansas game tho, they got some playas this year, at least on offense
5/22/2006 9:29:19 PM
yes they do... matters how Mustain can step in, they are loaded at RBand I knew this would draw you out...
5/22/2006 9:31:04 PM
^^That is definetely a tough schedule! Are you kidding billytalent????Tell me you are not a State fan and say that is an easy schedule.[Edited on May 22, 2006 at 9:37 PM. Reason : ^^][Edited on May 22, 2006 at 9:38 PM. Reason : billytalent]
5/22/2006 9:33:09 PM
5/22/2006 9:34:15 PM
^^ umm, are you saying it isnt or is? haha, I cant tell who you are getting onto...
5/22/2006 9:37:04 PM
i am not a state fanand i did not say it is an easy scheduleit just isn't particularly hard, nothing to brag about
5/22/2006 9:41:59 PM
you are crazy. Half the teams in the top 25??? all but 3 could be in bowlshell, you might have 4 of them in the top ten[Edited on May 22, 2006 at 9:45 PM. Reason : d]
5/22/2006 9:43:16 PM
typical SEC fan overrating his conferencewe'll see
5/22/2006 9:54:29 PM
its not a tough schedule, by tenn. standardsits an nfl schedule by ncsu standards
5/22/2006 9:56:19 PM
^^ which of these 6 wont be in the top 25?CalFloridaGeorgiaAlabamaLSUI think South Carolina will be but I agree they are debateable
5/22/2006 10:07:09 PM
do you mean preseason? or at mid-season?SEC is overrated in the preseason polls every year
5/22/2006 10:12:14 PM
at the time when they play them.and no they arent...
5/22/2006 10:17:49 PM
5/22/2006 10:18:40 PM
yeah, fuckers. I really thought UT had him but I think that pushed them over the top to #1 on his list
5/22/2006 10:19:53 PM
5/22/2006 10:20:45 PM
I'll be at the Florida game...I can't wait.
5/22/2006 10:21:40 PM
5/22/2006 10:22:10 PM
tennessee? women play football?
5/22/2006 10:23:16 PM
^^^ me too^^ I dont know, Ainge sucked so much ass last year...^ just stupid
5/22/2006 10:25:44 PM
5/23/2006 1:03:32 AM
^ Careful now with that whole "making an educated post" stuff
5/23/2006 1:24:57 AM
^^ football, track, and womens bball especially
5/23/2006 1:33:42 AM
^Tennessee is obviously a powerhouse, but I don't see how any rational person could consider the SEC a better women's bball conference than the ACC.
5/23/2006 2:34:36 AM
^Do you follow women's bball?Name the last ACC team to win the championship before Maryland this year.Tennessee, Georgia, LSU, Vandy, and Florida are all strong teams.
5/23/2006 9:18:15 AM
The SEC has had a number of strong teams and champions, but the ACC has decidedly turned the tide the last few years. The ACC had 3 teams in the Final Four this year.
5/23/2006 9:23:03 AM
True this past year it was better, but historically it hasn't been.Hell if it wasn't for the damn committee, UT would have been a #1 seed and not a #2 playing the top team UNC and there would have been 2 SEC teams and 2 ACC teams in the Final Four.UT got robbed on that deal.
5/23/2006 9:29:08 AM
How can Marshall be the homecoming game if they don't have a road game up to that point?
5/23/2006 9:32:15 AM
^Not sure if you grasp what homecoming is really about. That is the worst team on their schedule.
5/23/2006 9:33:27 AM
I always thought homecoming was supposed to be alumni coming back coinciding with the team's return to their home stadium following a road game or two.
5/23/2006 9:34:47 AM
5/23/2006 10:59:33 AM
^^ no, has NOTHING to do with the rest of the schedule. Its just a home game, usually the easiest one on the schedule that a lot of alumnai come back to... I dont know if I would have Marshall as the worst... Kentucky might be worse, Vandy too now that Buttler is gone
5/23/2006 11:21:12 AM
5/23/2006 11:26:02 AM
haha, shhh. After last years away schedule, I'll take it.and the more I think about it the more I am worried about Cal. They have the perfect type of system to beat TN, and they are loaded on offense. If they get some quick TDs there is no way we could catch up. And based on last years performance they will probably be ranked higher going into the game.[Edited on May 23, 2006 at 11:32 AM. Reason : d]
5/23/2006 11:30:25 AM
Honestly, I do not think that UT will even be ranked in the preseason. And, after that fucking pittiful performance last year, they don't deserve to be ranked until they win a few this year.

the point when the Sagarin ratings had use much higher than them...that point...[Edited on May 23, 2006 at 2:17 PM. Reason : oddly enough, that point has lasted for the last several years]

5/23/2006 2:22:39 PM
the Pac-10 is ranked higher than the SEC on that link... thats shows you how much worth that shit has. Fucking retarded.[Edited on May 23, 2006 at 2:23 PM. Reason : d]
5/23/2006 2:23:11 PM
whatever... another SEC fan who cant' handle the fact that his conference isn't what it used to be...it's not really the SEC East's fault... other than Vandy and Kentucky the SEC East is probably tied with the Big 12 South for the hardest division in college football... but the West struggles... sure they have LSU, but Alabama, Auburn, and Arkansas have run hot and cold for the last 5 years or so... 2 years ago it was possibly the second worst division in college football (but so much attention was focused on the Big 12 North that people ignored the SEC West)basically, the SEC is running on reputation and history, and the strength of Tenn/UF/UGAs yearly matchups...
