I have a civic, which im not driving due to a breaking issue, before i go to a shop to get an estimate i was wondering what the problem would most likely be. The breaks just "went out" in a sence, the car was breaking fine at one point and gradually over a 2 or 5 day period they just stopped responding to the break pedal... When you push the break pedal all the way down and there is no longer any pressure at all. (it gradually went away)i dont think its a break pad issue.. because i dont think the pads would work fine for a year? and then just go out all the sudden without "Wear warning"

Check and see if your master cylinder is leaking.

so you're saying the breaks are braking?

Sounds like your breaks are doing their job.

lol no i mean they arent breaking... like if the car is moving and you press the pedal down, nothing happens... you just keep rolling untill you gradually stop.... (or if you pull the emergency break... this just started happening last week... i havent driven it sence due to saving up for what i expect to be an expensive shop estimate + hours + parts bill. But the master cylinder is not leaking.. however there is no fluid in it loli dont know shit about cars except to change the oil... so im trying to figure this one out without taking it in.

there are realy no signs of leakage either except for the fact that there's no fluid in that white plastic part.

haha, well, if there is no BRAKE fluid in the MS then you better not be driving it, and look for that leak.If you dont know shit about cars, you might not want to work on the most important safety feature on them....

Go buy brake fluid, DOT3, and fill it back up. Then have someone repeatedly press the pedal and see if you can see where it is coming out. It sounds like you have a leak somewhere.

Don't wanna be a pest but breaking and braking, there's a difference, come on man.
5/22/2006 2:08:49 PM
lmao... didnt even notice... break brake
5/22/2006 3:43:52 PM
is it a civic hatchback?

Seriously man, are all of your cars pieces of shit? And they're all Hondas (93 accord and 92 civic)Leaking that much fluid should be a very easy find. Although my 93 Accord has a different break problem. I seem to get an overflow of brake light fluid everytime it rains and some of the excess fluid, which I'm assuming is used to cool my tail lights, leaks into the trunk.
