I downloaded microsoft's active x 9.0 because a program I was installing required it. Now all of a sudden I can't connect to AIM, it won't get past the verification step (step 2). I've uninstalled and reinstalled AIM with no success. Should I uninstall active x and the other program, or are they not related to my problem? Any help would be appreciated

btw I'm running AVG free antivirus and don't have a firewall so that isn't an issue.
