yeah i dunno...we had to send some artwork to a printing company to get some business card proofs done...sent them the .AI and .EPS files of the logo...I thought there was some option in Illustrator to find out what colors are used but all I could find was the #9A120D shade of red...anything else?

in the color picker, you can switch between hex rgb with the various color scales to Pantone swatches. Just plop in the hex value and then switch to pantone, it will give you the match or the closest one to it

do i have to have the Pantone .ATO swatch file?

btw its:

Red 153
Green 19
Blue 12

Hue 3
Saturation 92
Brightness 60

IT LOOKS KINDA LIKE THIS
but i dont know how to add the right HSB settings...this is only the RGB ratios

Okay, so in the color picker you have the RGB values entered.

Hit the "Color Libraries" button to the right, it will switch you over to the various Color Books. It *should* default to Pantone Solid Coated. It will select the closest swatch to your color (Panton 484C in this case). If you want a different Book, just select it and it will again give you the closest match.

thanks i'll try it

i think one of the problems here is that while I have Illustrator and a couple versions of Photoshop at my apartment, we only have Photoshop LE here at work so it doesnt have the full features

thanks though
