1. you shouldn't have put the 35th anniversary stripes on a '99. that alone would drop $1,500 off for a new paint job.2. that car is fairly worth $9,000.3. why did you get an automatic? why?4. 13.53 @ 105mph e.t.? that's right at stock figures. that's about right considering the mods you have and the automatic. however, you should do a little better than that if you have a programmed ecu.5. i would still buy it from you, if i had a the money. i'd give you 9K, if i had the money and felt like having a "semi-fast car" however, i don't
5/17/2006 3:47:01 AM
To be honest, the car looks really good man.I like the 35th stripes, always have. It's nice that it has a warranty on it into the 100K mark. Those sort of times are to be expected from a base level ls1, though I could foresee slightly better.Good luck with the sale; I do honestly believe that 15k will be a LITTLE bit high, but I think you'll get close to that from someone who wnats a pretty nice lookin' car. MikePS: And for all of those badmouthing that automatic; don't. While it may be a crappy thing to drive around in one's car everyday, they're a world of difference on the track

yeah, if you don't know how to shift. i have seem some cars where the automatic actually are slightly quicker than the manuals though, especially when the car has a shitload of power - a shitload.i love the 35th anniversary stripes too... just not on a '99. i'm not a fan of clones. i especially hate the ricers who tend to make "clones".[Edited on May 17, 2006 at 9:09 AM. i'm not trying to clone anything-- those checkered flag stripes look a lot better than the solid ones. i don't expect to get 15k for it. start high then potential buyers can talk you down. someone makes a resonable offer i'll take it.about the auto- i had a 2000 z28 with the 6 speed. i can shift gears good-- but give me an auto anyday on the track. 6 speeds are fun as hell to drive and good for street racing, but you just can't fuck with an auto on the track, especially when you race in pro street, when you need to hit consistent times. coming off that clutch consistently isn't always that easy, ask any "real" drag racer, just don't take an amatuer's word. yeah, an automatic would be useful if you had a professional drag car. it's not really advantageous for cars that are pretty much stock though. i'd rather get my shifts perfected and take advantage of the weight savings, easier maintenance, less heat generation, needlessness for supplemental equipment (coolers and stalls) and control with a manuel. plus, being that it's pretty much stock, i'll be driving the car every day. so, along with those three positives, i'd like the fuel savings. also, i would be taking my car to the road races as well, and an automatic would be a joke.to each their own though. i'm not trying to trash you for getting an automatic, so don't get pissed. there are some advantages with automatics as well, such as smoother shifts and less attention or easier driving.alas, this isn't "the garage" section, so i'll stop with all the technical discussions in your classifieds thread. i'm just into chevy's bigtime (if you couldn't tell by my name ), and am pretentious about them, and cars in general. your car is in really great shape, and you've done some great basic mods. it would serve as a good foundation to build upon for someone. even if the new owner doesn't plan on adding anything else, the car would look and sound better; and save them quite a bit of money from doing the mods themselves. like i said, i'd buy your car, if i had the money. good luck with your sale.[Edited on May 17, 2006 at 5:23 PM.
