currently i am registered for 6 hours both summer sessions

i also need one more 3 hour class, of which there is a 10-week offering

how feasible is it to be able to get approval for this? is formal approval needed in this situation?

i think you need special approval for anything over 8 hours per session

It's not terribly difficult; you'll just need to fill out a form and get your advisor's signature, and then take it to Registration & Records and they'll enter it into the computer and you'll have that limit removed.

The deal is that TRACS thinks a 10-week course is a 1st Summer Session course. In other words, if you try to add a 3-credit hour 10-week course right now, it'll reject it telling you that you can't have over 8 credit hours in Summer Session I, which is retarded because those 3 hours are spread over BOTH sessions...I wonder if they'll ever change this.

But anyway, formal approval is needed. You'll need your advisor's signature...I'd call him/her and arrange a meeting at their office to fill it out. Shouldn't be a hassle other than actually meeting w/ them.
