you name yoru price, then you have to fly when THEY tell you to.

wow....umm....would it be like...on that day sometime??

Its a reverse auction... the amount you are asking is floated out to ticket agencies and they decide if they want to sell it to you at that price.

Its not the route to go if you have an itinerary. Its more for like a random trip.

trikk, you say 300 for a ticket leaving between the days of xx/xx and xx/xx, and then they float it out. you may leave on sunday, maybe on thursday. whatever you define. but the trick you must accept what they sell it for. resubmit it a day later and sometimes it will be accepted.if not bump it up for 350. you can save $texas if you dont bid too high or eagerly. bid low, be flexible and retry.

hotwire.com lets you pick the dates... but you have to be kinda flexible on the times

Ya, unless you don't care if you leave at midnight or 6:00am, priceline isn't good for tickets. (Because that's when you're most likely to get a ticket since no one else wants those flights) Priceline is great for hotel discounts though. I've used it several times for that & stayed at places for less than half price. Only works if it's not a busy time though, of course.

does anyone have more information on hotwire? I really want to use it for my trip, but it looks sooooo sketch.

I have used priceline just once and am very happy with it. They got me round trip tickets from MSP to RDU for $300 less than 24 hours before the flight, when the price at all the travel websites was more than $580. I did have to fly at 6AM but that's only because I mentioned I am flexible about times. The airline was United all the way, and I didn't have to stop for more than an hour. Excellent customer serrvice, too
