I bet they'll be a huge crowd for this game. Clemson has good football fans. Drunk idiots, yes, but good fans nonetheless.

Well, I just don't see them showing up for a game in NC against Temple. Maybe against a bigger school, but not Temple. That was what I was getting at.

^Clemson will show up. They always travel to bowls and away games no matter what or how disappointing their team is. They will not do like we did Middle Tennessee State and that was in our own stadium.

I did my part, I was there.

clemson draws more in terms of people in attendance for the sole reason that their stadium holds more. however, if you go by % capacity, nc state has been top 5 in the country for the last several seasons. we've actually been #1 once or twice in recent years as well. therefore, it would be completly legitimate to say that nc state draws better for football than clemson, and 99% of all other programs.

here is the ncaa's report for last season (we fell to #7):
http://web1.ncaa.org/d1mfb/2005/Internet/attendance/IA_CAPACITY.pdf
7. nc state - 102.77% capacity, 52,925 average, 7 home games
36. clemson - 96.02% capacity, 78,232 average, 6 home games
60. tarfags - 86.11% capacity, 51,667 average, 6 home games

* nc state gathers it's attendance numbers through ticket stubs actually counted at the gates, not on sales or eyeballing. the tarfags eyeball their attendance figures. they were actually ripped into a little bit by the media for grossly inflating their attendance figures. there was one game in particular where there might've been 10,000 people at the game, but the tarfags eyeballed 30,000. sensible, honest tarheels at the game admitted the place was near empty. a newspaper article addressing this inflating showed a photo of a tarheel fan sitting in a section with no one within 20 feet of him. they also said kenan stadium was near empty and the 30,000 figure put out by the tarfag people was laughable.

this habit of lying shouldn't suprise anyone. it's common knowledge that unc used to pump in artificial crowd noise over the speakers in the dean dome. this is something the tarfag administration will openly admit to. this only shows what a bunch of fragile and conceited bunch the tarholes are. they're egos wouldn't be able to withstand the fact that their fans actually do suck.

2 posts up ^^ That made no sense. If they hold 80,000 and its at 96% and we hold 52 and are over 100 don't you think we would RATHER be at 96% with our stadium having 78,000 there rather than 50,000 SOLD tickets and then empty seats. point is clemson holds 80, bank of america holds 72. It will be full.

superchevy ur an idiot.

the day ncstate football draws more than clemson,
well,
i'd like to see it.

Clemson becomes the 3rd largest city in SC on gamedays as over 90,000 people flood the campus.

i guess from your reasoning Iowa State is a bigger draw for football too?

what didn't make sense to you? nc state does a better job filling it's stadium. that's a simple fact demonstrated above. despite what you may think, it's better to over sell than to have empty seats. this is a simple economic principle. an obvious example of this can be found in the airline industry where they overbook flights to ensure that every single seat will be occupied.

to simplify it for you in numbers:
150 seats on the plane
175 tickets are sold
now, the airline is hoping that 25 people don't show up for whatever reason. unfortunately for them, this rarely happens, so they run into the common problem where they've overbooked. now, they have pissed of customers who they have to accommodate with incentives and rebates, etc.

unlike the airlines though, stadiums can compensate for overbooking with temporary bleachers (like nc state has been doing). that's how we get 100+% capacity. also, some schools count stadium staff as attendees as well.

^^ fuck you, bitch.

as i said, we don't draw more in terms of attendance because of available seating limitations. however, we do better at filling the stadium. i repeat, it's better business to have 100% or more of the seats occupied, than to have any empty seats. the point is to maximize profits. what's the use of having a 80,000 seat stadium if all 80,000 seats aren't being used? for one, it looks like ass. and secondly, it's inefficient. look at it this way:

there are two adjacent restaurants. restaurant "a" can seat 20 people, but you see there are 13 people eating there. that's not bad, and they're over half full. next door at restaurant "b", they can only seat 10 people. every seat is occupied at restaurant "b", and they even have a line going out the door of people waiting to get in. which restaurant would you say is doing better?

because of the high demand of seats at carter-finley, we've been expanding. for successful expansion, you want to ensure that every seat will be full. otherwise, it really wouldn't be worth it now, would it? that's what we have going on at nc state. so, we're going to have a 67,000 seat stadium soon, and it will be at full capacity. maybe down the line, we'll get to 80,000 or more, and i hope we'll again be at 100%+ capacity.

on the other end of the spectrum, you have programs like north carolina (i have to rag on them, it's my duty). they have a 52,000 seat stadium but the place is usually under 50% capacity. yet, their genius alumni are clamouring for expansion. does that make any sense to anyone?

wow! really?! that's sooooo fucking amazing. i mean, how do they do it? let's see... clemson is a tiny, tiny, tiny town in the middle of nowhere. the clemson campus and the town itself is pretty much meshed as one. also, it's not like south carolina has any largely populated cities, like charlotte. why does it impress you that the town of clemson sees a population boom on gamedays? and guess what, clemson goes right back to being a tiny, tiny, tiny town in the middle of nowhere once the game ends. use your noggin, kid. nc state draws a shitload of out-of-towners on saturdays as well, but north carolina actually has some large cities.

South Carolina only has 2 major sports attractions whereas NC has 5 Division IA schools, plus the Hurricanes and the Panthers. Besides, football is the sport in SC even though the gamecocks have always been lousy at it.

back to the point at hand idiot. I would much rather carter finley hold 80,000 and there be 78,000 there than where we hold 50,000 and there are 50,000 when most of the times its about 48. and never have i ever been to a game at clemson vrs us where the seats was even one seat empty so I dont know where your coming up with that either ^^.

^^ goddamn, you're a faggot. of course 78,000 is better than 50,000. however, i believe that we could draw 78,000 fans if the space permitted. i'm basing that on our recent performance in filling capacity. also, we're sold out season tickets in record time the past couple of seasons.

you have nothing to back up your claim as to why clemson draws better than ncsu other than the circumstancial fact of available seats. everything i've layed out helps support my point. and my main point was and still is that ncsu has performed better at filling the stadium.

I have been to games at FSU, Clemson, VT and other places and State is very comparable to those places in terms of rowdiness and atmosphere. One sideline reporter from ESPN said that C-F was the loudest stadium he's ever been in. I read an article in Athlon last year that was written by a guy whose goal is to go to every division IA stadium said that State has the best fans and the intensity was like nothing he's ever experienced anywhere else.

ive been to state, vt, bama, and ut. the later 3 were all better. The sustained sound is much greater at the other 3 venues. it can get pretty dead at times, but its not really the fans fault as much as its the fault of the people running the games. just look at the pregame stuff we have.

oh, wait, im sorry, im being a realist.

NCSU IS THE BEST IN THE NATION! BOAST BOAST BOAST.

we go to school here, yet we will take off our RED blinders and realize who is being a HOMER and who is NOT. This year alone we could barely fill up CF besides the Va TECH game and UNC game so don't kid yourself. I am a die hard fan for ncsu and have been for as long as I can remember but I still realize we are nowhere CLOSE and i mean even close to the enviroments, size, legacies, etc as PENN STATE, USC,CLEMSON, FSU, etc...and I went to the game at FSU this year...their stadium shakes, their fans cheer the same cheers in unison. I could go on...the point is we need to get better and your an idiot for saying we have a better stadium OR enviroment than Death Valley.

USC (youre talking about Southern Cal, right?) actually has a huge bandwagon and plays in a massive stadium they dont fill. not the best environment.

where did you people sit at Lane Stadium? I sat in the student section and its was defening most of the game. I moved to seats at the top later and it wasnt nearly as loud from up there, but still insane.

how to make nc state a better game environment:

-no more stupid videos set to nu metal before the game
-have the band play up until the team comes out, most big schools do that
-dont tell the fans when to cheer and not cheer
-cut back on the announced ads (I'm looking at you, Fox50)
-have the band play much, much more
-move the band back beside the students
-go back in time and start decent traditions (like real cheers)
-burn couches after the game

he might have been referring to the game 2 years ago. we sucked, and the upper decks were hardly full. the entire lower area was, but there was definitely some empty seats during that game up in the upper decks. CU does do an amazing job of filling there stadium though most of the time. also i should point out that NCSU is a much bigger school than CU, so that shows how they have a much higher percentage of their alumni being able to go to games.
