i love neil boortz
5/11/2006 12:38:21 PM
I used to at least respect him before I realized the extent to which he was a GOP cheerleader.I mean, the guy claims to be hardcore libertarian, yet has no problem whatsoever with how the war on terrorism is being run.
5/11/2006 1:01:59 PM
I can't listen to the thing just now, but I wholeheartedly agree with the titular sentiment. My seventh grade counselor called my mom in to tell her that she thought I was going to be the next Ted Kaczynski.
5/11/2006 1:46:49 PM
There's still time!
5/11/2006 1:48:58 PM
omg its the gubment. schools are the gubment.

when you have a test at school, and you forgot a #2 pencil, they should kick you out and not give you an #2 pencil b/c they should help you wipe your own ass like that.also, they should eliminate school lunch b/c kids should take care of their own food needs.also, they should close all the public schools.
5/11/2006 2:55:06 PM
your first two points are retarded.I agree with the third though.
5/11/2006 3:03:54 PM
yes, lets use the market to resegregate the schools by class, race, and such. thatll totally prepare kids for working with all sorts of people in the real world.
5/11/2006 3:05:05 PM
*yawn* this discussion has been had.1) don't get rid of the DOE2) use that money to give even stipends3) let people choose what they want instead of being forced to go to school in an inner-city slum as you would have them do
5/11/2006 3:06:19 PM
you know, wealthy people dont shop at wal-martwhite people dont eat at churche's chickengive kids the option of leaving underperforming schools, but dont scrap the whole system when it works for most.[Edited on May 11, 2006 at 3:11 PM. Reason : .]
5/11/2006 3:08:35 PM
newsflash, mr. dense.rich people don't go to public school either.
5/11/2006 3:16:30 PM
hahahahahahaduuuuuuuuur
5/11/2006 3:34:40 PM
yeah it's just as retarded as saying "rich people don't shop at wal-mart"see my point?
5/11/2006 3:47:40 PM
yeah... funny, cause I've seen plenty of rich people buy stuff at wal mart
5/11/2006 3:51:02 PM
right, as do rich people go to public school. SO to say that the market will crumble in the area of education because the rich will do their own thing is blatantly retarded, border-line subhuman intelligence and must have been taught in public schools.[Edited on May 11, 2006 at 4:05 PM. Reason : .]
5/11/2006 4:04:58 PM
exactly... I'm with you, I went to a public schoolbut knowing the people that I know who are teachers... I honestly can't say that I'd want my child in a public school
5/11/2006 4:07:07 PM
i just think the system is fucked up. You have systems that fail kids and we just throw more money at it thinking the problem will go away.If you privatize the system, a school system that couldn't work on it's budget would go under. No more shitty schools. If you subsidize everyone with a grant, then that'll take away the "OMG YOU'RE SEGREGATING."The rich might still attend fancy catholic schools, but that's their preogative. They have that right right now.So by not reforming the system, we're just prepetuating a system that keeps black kids in inner-city project schools while the rich white kids get to go to prep school. And I'm the racist?[Edited on May 11, 2006 at 4:14 PM. 5/11/2006 4:12:23 PM
I agree...
5/11/2006 4:14:26 PM
what happens to the kids whose parents dont care enough to find a school that fits them?
5/11/2006 4:20:32 PM
NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND!!11111111
5/11/2006 4:22:12 PM
^what the hell did that have to do with anything?in that system, a parent will have to take some kind of responsibility and initiative to ensure their childs education. unfortunately, there are plenty of parents who dont give 2 shits. what happens then, its not like the dept of education is going to know when to step in and do it for the kid, and its not like young kids can do it on their own or find another guardian to help.i mean, a system like the higher ed. system for all schools sounds ok, but you have to figure out how to help those kids whose families unfortunately dont care enough to ensure a good future for a kid. i knew/know way too many of these families... [Edited on May 11, 2006 at 4:26 PM. Reason : .]
5/11/2006 4:25:01 PM
all sorts of nice private schools are bound to pop up in the inner cities...or anywhere remotely close by.
5/11/2006 4:26:53 PM
I'm being sarcastic cause honestly it's not my responsibilityso what I'm a bad person
5/11/2006 4:27:04 PM
And it shouldn't be your responsibility. The DOE and the state still monitors attendance records. Kids will still be required to go to school as they are now. So if a kid isn't going to school, then that's when the state sends in their social workers.I don't even like that idea. I should not have to pay because your family cannot assume basic responsibility.
5/11/2006 4:29:12 PM
how long until we talk about how boortz thinks unions are the downfall of this nation and should be abolished and not reformed?^so you have no problem with there being a generation of kids whose parents didnt care not finishing school, ok. [Edited on May 11, 2006 at 4:31 PM. Reason : .]
5/11/2006 4:29:40 PM
lets start now?And by your logic, you would rather continually fail generations of inner city kids because you're too obtuse to see an alternative. It's just like those who are fixed on oil and thus don't want to look for anything else that might be better because, well, oil is doing a good enough job.
5/11/2006 4:30:38 PM
did i not say that a system similar to the higher ed. system would be good? my qualms all deal with the students whose parents wont give a fuck to take care of them. do they deserve to pay for their parents shit?pundits, no matter what side theyre on, are 99% of the time blowhard morons who just create more morons anyway.[Edited on May 11, 2006 at 4:34 PM. Reason : .]
5/11/2006 4:33:10 PM
do you or I deserve to pay for them either?
5/11/2006 4:34:19 PM
well, someone w/ the power needs to help them. sorry, i guess i care too much to see people pay for their parents shitty mistakes b/c OMG TEH GUBMENT CANT TAKE MY MONEYS.sorry that you dont care about them, whatever.[Edited on May 11, 2006 at 4:37 PM. Reason : .]
5/11/2006 4:36:29 PM
^^Yes, we do. It comes with being part of this society. And, if you're motivated by self-interest alone, think about this way:Poorly educated people = underpaid people = people committing crimes to get bySo, yeah, I'll pay for education, since that means less people will be shoplifting from my grocery store and raising the prices on my food.[Edited on May 11, 2006 at 4:40 PM. ^ churches is top notch fried chicken btwI don't have the "power" to take care of them eitherwhy should myself or my family suffer because of other peoples mistakesoh yeah... there is no such thing as responsibility when it comes to you peopleyou can tell me how you think I am wrong but you're not gonna convince me otherwiseas for the people stealing, maybe they should re-evaluate their lives rather than taking from others[Edited on May 11, 2006 at 5:01 PM. 5/11/2006 5:01:10 PM
OMG IM SUFFERING UNDER THE HUGE TAX BURDENS!!!11as for the churches' comment, if you knew me youd understand that better...oh, fuck it.guess what? liberals can be politically incorrect too [Edited on May 11, 2006 at 5:14 PM. Reason : .]
5/11/2006 5:11:58 PM
I don't understand people that feel like they should give their money away to the government
5/11/2006 5:14:40 PM
because it pays for shit we use?because if everyone looked out for themselves and didnt care about society at large, we'd have a pretty crummy society?
5/11/2006 5:17:13 PM
so when is enough enough.... 40%? 50%?
5/11/2006 5:26:23 PM
Whatever percentage is necessary to ensure that all the essentials are covered, basically. "Essentials" being anything necessary to the maintenance of peace, order, and general prosperity. You'll probably bitch about "general prosperity," and then I'll ask you how much individual wealth anybody would be able to accrue without certain taxpayer-funded projects (like, I dunno, roads?)You and the rest are better off for paying taxes than you would be without. Now, as soon as that changes, then the taxes are too much.
5/11/2006 6:03:22 PM
5/11/2006 6:07:03 PM
Well, it might be OK. Like I say, there is a line. On one side, you're getting more than what you pay for your taxes, and on the other side, you're getting less. Of course, defining that line is going to be a subject of eternal debate -- the benefits of most government services aren't easily measured in dollar amounts. Security, for example. The line is there nonetheless, and that line is completely independent of what percentage of your income you're giving up.
