May 18 - Drivin' 'n Cryin' with SugarAll's I gotta say is I've seen Drivin' 'n Cryin' at the Brewery about 6 years ago...pretty decent show. Now Sugar...wow. They're a pretty good band, but their lead singer makes me drool. She ain't a textbook beauty in the classical sense of the term...but she IS fuck-me, bangin' HOT. What a sultry voice too.
5/9/2006 6:50:07 PM
actually... the contract was up and rocky top hosp (Hi5) picked it up.so its their decision- plus the whole bring in your own beer is a hard permit to get (if even available for this location)the concerts are still free - you just have to buy your beer there. i think its gonna be all Bud products on the street with liq and other stuff available on the patio.and one of the TBA dates is Gin Blossoms (i'm pretty sure)thats all i know for now.[Edited on May 9, 2006 at 6:52 PM. the bring your own beer deal was one of the best parts of goingno assraping on getting a buzz
5/9/2006 6:52:51 PM
good thing i have uncle flask
5/9/2006 7:04:59 PM
fuck this no coolers thing.
5/9/2006 7:08:12 PM
5/9/2006 7:17:05 PM
The entire event sucks.I don't even drink that much and I realized that being outside with your own (read: cheap and of preference) beer was the whole point.
5/9/2006 7:23:28 PM
5/9/2006 7:28:18 PM
aren't the gin blossoms playing the 96 rock free music thing though?
5/9/2006 7:41:25 PM
not to beat a dead horse, but
5/9/2006 8:04:38 PM
Alive after 5 sucksin the 3 summers i spent in raleigh, i only went twice and both times were terrible
5/9/2006 8:17:49 PM
Yes, we all know. You hate Raleigh and moved to San Diego, where you spend a monsterous portion of your time on the internet talking about how Raleigh sucks. We get it, ok.
5/9/2006 8:26:10 PM
gee it's been a while since youve trolled me Stateeither im not posting as much anymore, or you've found better things to do with your time...
5/9/2006 8:32:14 PM
Chance has a point.
5/9/2006 9:03:03 PM
and alive after 5 sucksso whats YOUR point?
5/9/2006 9:28:21 PM
I wouldn't call my post a troll. Troll's are typically baseless attacks or posts meant to do nothing other than incite a response from the trollee. What I stated was somewhat of a fact. You spend a ton of time on this forum, which is fine, but then when you bash the city I kinda wonder how you ever got out and actually experienced it.[Edited on May 9, 2006 at 9:35 PM. Reason : x]
5/9/2006 9:34:30 PM
I love Raleigh.Alive After Five still sucks.
5/9/2006 9:39:39 PM
the concerts are decent. i like some of the bands, not others. the point was socializing outdoors with nice weather and not getting assraped buying beer.im interested to see if anyone even goes with the no coolers policy.
5/9/2006 9:40:45 PM
No coolers and they're selling overpriced beer. Not walking distance from downtown offices. What's the point?
5/9/2006 10:38:46 PM
yay!General Johnson & the Chairmen of the BoardIt's the night before my bday and I can go to the beach the next day.
5/9/2006 10:42:56 PM
if you didnt knowthey play every year
5/9/2006 10:48:05 PM
Yes, I know. And they play about every other night in Eastern NC.
5/9/2006 11:47:39 PM

5/10/2006 2:18:59 AM
5/10/2006 8:29:49 AM
Sugar? as in Bob Moulds band after Husker Du?
5/10/2006 8:38:34 AM
^haha, that'd be awesome. but yeah, the whole no coolers thing is about as retarded as it gets. nobody goes to listen to the bands. they go so they can get a cheap buzz and socialize. I'm not paying $4 a beer every thursday when the bands aren't even FAIRLY decent. if it was good music, that'd be one thing.
5/10/2006 8:52:33 AM
yeah i mean if i want to pay for beer ill head to raleigh downtown live, which at least has good bands.
5/10/2006 9:06:02 AM
5/10/2006 9:36:42 AM
You mean you're gonna have to exchange money? For beer?? What country are we living in?!
5/10/2006 9:50:32 AM
let me simplify this for you. it isnt the money for beer, it is the opportunity cost:aa5: money for beer + shitty bands and a crappy locationraleigh downtown live: money for beer + decent bands + decent locationconcerts: lots of money for beer + good bandsbars: money for good beer

Speaking of flasks, this is the coolest fucking flask ever. $8 at REIhttp://www.nalgene-outdoor.com/promos/featured.html[Edited on May 10, 2006 at 10:26 AM. Reason : no ghost edits.]
5/10/2006 10:26:08 AM
Coolestest flask ever
5/10/2006 10:30:01 AM
I must say...an unbreakable non-metallic flask is pretty damn cool.
5/10/2006 10:32:15 AM
Yeah, I was going to pick up that Nalgene flask the last time I was at REI, but I bought a bunch of other stuff and forgot about it. My current flask is metal in a super fratty looking plaid and leather cover. Bad for metal detectors.
5/10/2006 10:41:53 AM
i was wrong about Gin Blossoms sorry. i read it somewhere else.think about it.. if it was your property and you were hosting it.. therefore stuck cleaning up the street and shit. you would sell beer and not allow people to bring their own in for free.its still a free concert.and drinks wont be overpriced. same price you'd pay at most bars. YEAH THOSE BLOCK PARTIES AREN'T NEARLY AS COOL AS ALIVE AFTER 5......CAN'T BRING YOUR OWN BOOZE....I HAVE EVEN EXPRESSED MY CONCERN WITH THE HIGHER UPS AT ROCKY TOP......THEY TOLD ME TO FUCK MYSELF!!
5/10/2006 11:19:55 AM
thats just what everyone tells you to do when you open your mouth
5/10/2006 11:29:55 AM
5/10/2006 11:34:54 AM
Alive After 5 is dead to me.
5/10/2006 12:51:09 PM
^^ they're not gonna charge $10/beer or crap like that.you're gonna pay $3 or $4 for a beer just like at any bar.yea i wish they'd kept it the way it was. but the permit was impossible to get and they can do whatever they feel like doing. if you dont like it stay at home
5/10/2006 1:15:55 PM
if i wanted to pay bar prices for my beer, i'd go to a bar.
