May 18 - Drivin' 'n Cryin' with Sugar

All's I gotta say is I've seen Drivin' 'n Cryin' at the Brewery about 6 years ago...pretty decent show.

Now Sugar...wow. They're a pretty good band, but their lead singer makes me drool. She ain't a textbook beauty in the classical sense of the term...but she IS fuck-me, bangin' HOT. What a sultry voice too.

actually... the contract was up and rocky top hosp (Hi5) picked it up.
so its their decision- plus the whole bring in your own beer is a hard permit to get (if even available for this location)
the concerts are still free - you just have to buy your beer there.
i think its gonna be all Bud products on the street with liq and other stuff available on the patio.

and one of the TBA dates is Gin Blossoms (i'm pretty sure)

thats all i know for now.

they made the wrong decision
the concerts mostly suck ass / its the fact that you can drink YOUR own beer outside with friends
that sells the event

The entire event sucks.

I don't even drink that much and I realized that being outside with your own (read: cheap and of preference) beer was the whole point.

Yes, we all know. You hate Raleigh and moved to San Diego, where you spend a monsterous portion of your time on the internet talking about how Raleigh sucks. We get it, ok.

I wouldn't call my post a troll. Troll's are typically baseless attacks or posts meant to do nothing other than incite a response from the trollee. What I stated was somewhat of a fact. You spend a ton of time on this forum, which is fine, but then when you bash the city I kinda wonder how you ever got out and actually experienced it.

the concerts are decent. i like some of the bands, not others. the point was socializing outdoors with nice weather and not getting assraped buying beer.

im interested to see if anyone even goes with the no coolers policy.

No coolers and they're selling overpriced beer.
Not walking distance from downtown offices.

What's the point?

stfu, leave, do what ever you got to do. that is unless you cant hack it in the mexican border town of san diego...

^haha, that'd be awesome.

but yeah, the whole no coolers thing is about as retarded as it gets. nobody goes to listen to the bands. they go so they can get a cheap buzz and socialize. I'm not paying $4 a beer every thursday when the bands aren't even FAIRLY decent. if it was good music, that'd be one thing.

let me simplify this for you. it isnt the money for beer, it is the opportunity cost:

aa5: money for beer + shitty bands and a crappy location
raleigh downtown live: money for beer + decent bands + decent location
concerts: lots of money for beer + good bands
bars: money for good beer

Yeah, I was going to pick up that Nalgene flask the last time I was at REI, but I bought a bunch of other stuff and forgot about it.

My current flask is metal in a super fratty looking plaid and leather cover. Bad for metal detectors.

i was wrong about Gin Blossoms sorry. i read it somewhere else.

think about it.. if it was your property and you were hosting it.. therefore stuck cleaning up the street and shit. you would sell beer and not allow people to bring their own in for free.

its still a free concert.
and drinks wont be overpriced. same price you'd pay at most bars.

Obviously, there was someone out there who didn't have a problem with it for several years.

That's the stupidest fucking sentence I've ever read. Not to mention, it's being sold by the rocky top folks. They wouldn't know reasonably priced alcohol if it sucked them off.

^^ they're not gonna charge $10/beer or crap like that.
you're gonna pay $3 or $4 for a beer just like at any bar.

yea i wish they'd kept it the way it was. but the permit was impossible to get and they can do whatever they feel like doing. if you dont like it stay at home
