it isn't the aftermarket parts that make it unsuitable as a first motorcycle. bolt on mods don't do all that much to a race-replica...they're already tuned from the factory to be exploit almost all of the performance potential.it's the fact that it's a race-rep to begin with. R6s are fantastic motorcycles, but they aren't a beginner's machine at all. Americans have this crazy idea that 600s are small, entry level machines, which is not at all the case. 600s are middleweights--they just don't sell the smaller displacement bikes here because not enough people want them. a 600cc sportbike is an EXTREMELY high performance machine. It has much more power than a novice rider should try to play with, and a very aggressive chassis. Hell, even the brakes can get you in trouble if you're ham-handed or don't know when and how to use them.Learn to ride on something less powerful and more forgiving. You'll learn faster, and you have a somewhat greater chance of not crashing. Ride for at least 6 months before you buy any sportbike, and then definitely don't go with anything bigger than a 600.
