I was driving back from Hickory, hit the heavy rain near UNC. On concrete, i can run damn 80 with no problems. As soon as I hit asphalt, the damn car was walking around at 60. Thats bullshit. Not that i want to run 80 in the rain, its just bullshit that there is so much of a watershed difference between the two.

concrete absorbs water and tar works as a sealer on the gravel[Edited on May 7, 2006 at 8:48 PM. Reason : .]

Most interstate concrete is somewhat grooved to help in shedding water.
5/7/2006 10:35:51 PM
any cure for shedding hair?
5/7/2006 10:42:09 PM
^ Try Roadgain.
5/7/2006 10:45:42 PM
i see what you did there
5/7/2006 10:48:44 PM
Yea today's rain clearly illustrated the need for new tires.
5/7/2006 10:58:04 PM
its all about the slope, and quality of any surface... If the road is sloped like its supposed to be, either should be fine, but your right the asphalt is typically slippery. Interstate cemete is rough, asphalt is much better dry
5/7/2006 11:27:56 PM
damn this is a stupid thread
5/8/2006 10:02:23 AM
i was running 45 mph in the rain yesterday on 64, behind some stupid old fuck with four way flashers on in the left lane that took 3 miles to pass a truck that was in the right lane if you can't drive in the rain then you don't need a license, for fucks sake, i probably coulda passed em in the median in 6 feet of snow at those insane speeds

I find that getting extremely angry helps.

i noticed too on Tryon between Gorman and That fuckin road at the next light towards Cary taht even at about 50 my car was floating around in the ass enough for my roomie to notice who knows nothing about cars (subtle feelin, not talkin about fishtailin). I was suprised that it was moving like that though. I think a lot of that is a watershed problem.
5/8/2006 10:58:42 AM
gay

please dont use the word "watershed" improperly in this thread again.kthxps.. asphalt or "tar and gravel" is concrete too.. just with a different type of binder/matrix (asphalt vs. portland cement)[Edited on May 8, 2006 at 11:49 AM. Reason : ps]
5/8/2006 11:47:57 AM
might just be the driver
5/8/2006 4:29:01 PM
^only on that section of road right, but i forgot that everyone in here is a fuckin IRL driver
5/8/2006 5:28:33 PM
it is your tiresdry/wet performance trade offit isnt the damn road
5/8/2006 5:30:30 PM
which explains the difference between traction on the different surfaces right?... what the thread was all about...

it sounded to me like you were asking why you were getting shitty performance in the wetyou are because you obviously have tires geared towards dry performance on your caris it a function of the roadbut you cant do a damn thing about the roadso why are you bitching?just get some new tires if you want to be able to drive 80+ on asphalt

whine
5/9/2006 5:36:31 PM
na, i wasnt bitchin, i was just suprised at the difference in wet traction between the two surfaces. But yeah, i have Goodyear Eagle SCs and they arent supposed to be worth a shit in the rain.
5/9/2006 6:59:33 PM
well rudy i prefer (kart) cause irl just complains. but im glad you have your facts strait.
5/9/2006 8:04:39 PM
^ shit man, my badonly on that section of road right, but i forgot that everyone in here is a fuckin IRL kart driver
5/10/2006 12:44:14 AM
5/10/2006 12:51:21 AM
yes, goodyear eagle SC, or gatorback, or ZR45s are not worth a shit in the rain.
5/10/2006 1:18:25 AM
^ i was actually suprised with the kumho MXs that came on it. they did pretty decent in the rain...but im not putting a fuckin jap tire on a vette, nothin against em, just dont sit right...
5/10/2006 1:21:19 AM
dude, put what performs the best, doesn't matter if it's jap, german, chinese, or anything else.

5/10/2006 10:12:42 AM
i was being a smartass. all the vette forums pretty much swear by the SC, Pilot Sport ( too $), or BFG KD. I was tryin one of these.
