2005 Dodge SRT-4or2006 Cobalt SS SuperchargedI need a shitbox with mild power and good mpg for daily driving. Which one? Any other suggestions?
5/3/2006 11:49:13 AM
have to be american? and price range?
5/3/2006 11:49:54 AM
you want a brand new shitbox? why?
5/3/2006 11:50:01 AM
I'd like to keep it around 20K, doesn't have to be American but I'd like a small motor with forced inductionIt really doesn't have to be brand new, I'd just prefer it that way
5/3/2006 11:52:24 AM
go with that new toyota pos, the yaris.... good milage, and the thing is so damn small 100 hp will probably move it pretty well
5/3/2006 12:07:04 PM
how bout those turbo mazdasprotege's and miatas, i thinkand Saturn makes a turbo Ion (Ion Redlline, iirc)
5/3/2006 12:27:16 PM
mazdaspeed protege [/thread]
5/3/2006 12:32:28 PM
good gas mileage usually isnt on par with forced induction.

5/3/2006 1:00:12 PM
ill sell ya my 03 Spec V, its a great fun little car, and goin to be alot cheaper than a new one
5/3/2006 1:00:44 PM
Between those two I'd definitely go for the SRT.
5/3/2006 1:17:28 PM
neitherwhy does it have to be new. something like an off lease Mini Cooper S or Mazdaspeed Protege would be much better cars.

5/3/2006 2:28:47 PM

5/3/2006 2:56:05 PM
if you were buying a shitbox for daily driving you would be spending 1-2k.
5/3/2006 3:11:47 PM

5/3/2006 3:19:22 PM

5/3/2006 7:51:59 PM
who buys a new car to save money?
5/3/2006 8:16:14 PM
same people who order wifes from a catalog...
5/3/2006 8:28:14 PM
my S2000 has a 2.0 liter engine, is supercharged, makes prob around 360 at the crank, and gets 23-25 mpg.you can have it for 24k.http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4636898175&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1
5/3/2006 8:52:01 PM
shitbox, you say?
5/3/2006 8:54:03 PM
^^ what's the reserve.. just curious...
5/3/2006 9:00:26 PM
I'm not really trying to save money, just need something semi decent to put miles so I don't have to rag out my C6. Not that I think it's "all that" or anything but I'm raking in too many miles on it.Both of the cars I listed are F/I and can get around 30MPG (at least according to manufacturer specs) if you drive them right
5/3/2006 9:03:04 PM
$23,900 (i was thinking 24k, but i forgot i made it $100 lower)buy it, come down to pick it up, and make it a beach vacation at my house for a few days. i live 5 minutes from the beach. i think you could get it shipped up there for about $400 or so.I also could probably meet you in Atlanta (halfway) one weekend, or probably even bring it all the way to Raleigh, but you'd likely have to wait for me to do that.[Edited on May 3, 2006 at 9:08 PM. Thats a sick S2000, was the supercharger installed before or after you purchased it?I looked at some S2000's at the Honda dealership on Speedway Blvd. but their $34,000 MSRP is a little ridiculous
5/3/2006 9:16:53 PM
30mpg if you drive like a granny EPA estimates are VERY generous.. probably because they never go past 2500rpm or 55mph
5/3/2006 9:43:43 PM
I average 25-26mpg in OBX driving, 29-31 on the highway (65-80mph) in my srt
5/3/2006 9:46:14 PM
20 large.............not a shit box
5/3/2006 9:59:19 PM
I wasn't being serious when I referred to them as being shit boxes but I knew if I posted two American cars on here someone else would call it. I just called it first to get it out of the way
5/3/2006 10:01:09 PM
^^^^^it was on the car when i bought it. it would've cost substantially more to build the car than it did to just buy it already done, and at the time, i was living in military barracks with no tools and no garage...and the SC was dealer installed, so I had no qualms about the install.
5/3/2006 10:18:45 PM
I'll buy it for 10% of your asking price.
5/3/2006 11:37:53 PM
Excursion beats supercharged S2000 light to light...but not on the highway.
5/3/2006 11:47:34 PM
hahaif the lights are 20 yards apartof course, i didn't launch it hard at all, but i bet your Excursion would still be in the same ballpark for 60 ft times even if i did!
5/4/2006 12:10:55 AM
^im winning yay!
5/4/2006 12:17:17 AM
thanks for the bids, fellasI keep on getting PMs to part it out (1 for SC, one for wheels). I said "no way" for the SC...I'm not about to spend my little bit of free time in the garage pulling all that stuff off (and I don't have some of the stock stuff to replace it with).i told the dude who wants to trade stock wheels + cash to make me an offer, and I'd consider it, but I'm not really looking to do it.
5/4/2006 12:26:00 AM
ahha 696969
5/4/2006 12:27:30 AM
I'd totally hit this up for 6969.69 Haha[Edited on May 4, 2006 at 12:29 AM. Reason : ]
5/4/2006 12:27:33 AM
hahatoo bad you didn't type one more digit!
5/4/2006 12:28:45 AM
I made sure I clearly typed it in correct. It took me a min to do it so I was sure to not put in 696969.69 haha. Thats how tired I am.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4631817652&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1y'all think i'm about right on my reserve and buy it now? the cars are very comparable in setup, year, and mileage.
5/4/2006 12:36:46 AM
Woah, almost the exactly same car... without the red interior.
5/4/2006 12:42:00 AM
yeah, I PM'd all of the people who bid on that car (except for the winner). several of them were really close to the winning bid.hopefully they'll jump on my auction. I made the buy it now just a little higher than the reserve/what I think the car will go for, so hopefully someone will decide to just take the safe bet and spend an extra $500-1000 to keep someone else from buying the car out from under him (as opposed to most people's strategy of making the Buy It Now price some recockulous only-in-dreams price).[Edited on May 4, 2006 at 12:46 AM. Reason : but i'm cool with anything at or above my reserve, really.]
5/4/2006 12:45:36 AM
