OMFG ... portable pr0n on a stick! Enough to last you on any flight!Wonder how long before 64GB won't be enough space ... 10 years?

^Personally I'm waiting for the days when download/upload speeds reach a point where it makes DSL/Cable look like dial-up. That way everyone will move to the new tech and I can finally bump up to DSL
5/2/2006 6:22:44 PM
k so i guess this want as cool as i thought
5/5/2006 12:58:02 AM
I thought it was 64MB and everyone was just pretending that 3k was a good price.
5/5/2006 5:36:07 AM
it's bad enough losing a 256 MB flash drive...i can't imagine losing one with 256 times the data stored on it
5/5/2006 8:26:43 AM
annnnnnnnnnd now they're like $20.

Yeah, the 512 gb flash drives have reduced from around $1000 to about $50 in the last 2 years and now there are 1024GB drives.
3/29/2014 8:54:09 AM
sheeit mang, I thought 64GB was as high as the tech could go
3/30/2014 4:23:33 AM
i remember when i got my first flash drive, it was a gift actually.128 MB, and it cost either $15 or $30, can't remember. this was 2004.^ 1024 GB has been out for at least a couple of years, maybe even 3-4. or if not 1024, definitely 512 GB.
3/31/2014 10:01:34 AM
if 512GB flash drives are $50, then why are ~500GB SSDs still so expensive?
3/31/2014 2:07:53 PM
Flash drives are really really slow compared to nicer consumer SATA or PCI-E drives. Also they have a lot more features built in to them. Encryption, SMART stuff, TRIM, etc.

Also
4/1/2014 12:36:42 PM
ahhh that makes a hell of a lot more sense. I didn't bother verifying the $50 number before.with that being the case (and checking on pricing for both), the 512GB SSDs are actually cheaper than the flash cards.
