i've got about 3 albumsthe latest one sounded like garb to mehowever, the track with masta ace on a previous release (the track is "Seasons") is kinda the heatalso: they killed it with tracks like "halfanimal" and "lynguistics" and "thugged out since cub scouts" and stuff... great lyrics-ZiP!-[Edited on May 2, 2006 at 12:32 AM. yea i like that cut with cee-lo, "caved in"and "the light" is fucking intoxicating
5/2/2006 12:36:48 AM
maybe its just that the whole thing feels a little overproduced and too retrospective to me or something...however, i only started listening to this new album just the other day, but it doesn't have the same "fuck you" energy of the past 2 on a first listen.but, speaking of cee-lo (and speaking of sleeping on people), i am finally listening to some of cee-lo's soul stuff, and its pretty nice -- i'm curious about that brand new one... i just have Cee Lo Green is the Soul Machine-ZiP!-
5/2/2006 12:40:36 AM
that soul machine album had a few good tracksbuti hate the gnarls barkley shit
5/2/2006 12:43:48 AM
i think i've only heard one track from gnarls barkley, it had a ink-blot-test style video, and seemed sorta interesting... i mean, far from cee-lo's hip hop, obviously-ZiP!-

yeah that album with "Seasons" is pretty niceI love how they drop that beat on the very last track of the album, the hidden track...they got that long instrumental sampling Prodigy from Mobb...then they have some interlude and break in with an ill ass beat...but the illest part is the 2nd verse when they drop those saxophones? oh man that shit is too ill...how the beat drops when the lyrics start like "I try to help my fellow man but get left with yellow hands searchin for beauty like cinderella's man but i'm not prince charming..." or whatever...nicehaha funny sidenote...i went to see cunninlynguists and brand nubian last year at Amos' Southend in Charlotte...so I was pretty tipsy, I gave cunnin daps when they went offstage and all that and before brand nubian even came out to do their set i was off passed out on some couch in vip hahah man i felt like asshole the next morning[Edited on May 2, 2006 at 10:39 AM. yeah son don't sleep. cunninlyguist is mr. sos, kno, and Deacon The Villain and reside in kentucky and also part of the collective QN5 music along w/ Tonedef, PackFM and others.i got most of their shit. they are nice and real cool humble dudes. played the cradle a couple of times. They have three LPs, 2 Sloppy Seconds lps, and mr. sos has put out 2 mixtapes, and kno has put out 3 series of instrumentals and was one of the first after dangermouse to remix the black album. He did the white albumthe new album a piece of strange is a concept album and has a dvd to accompany it coming out later this year. some quality tracks on there but southern underground is still my favorite. kno is one of the most slept on producers.
