I took it with Rhee 04 Spring. Hardest B I have ever worked for, and I loved every minute of it. This was the first course where I was given a homework assignment I couldn't complete in under 10 hours... and was given near freedom in how I completed it. If I remember correctly, one of them I had to "create a program that implemented huffman compression". No fill-in-the-blank class files, and no spoonfeeding.316 is pretty deceptive, it's not really the 3rd in the series of X16 courses... more like the class where computer science turns into computer science, instead of computer programming. This is what CSC really is, and Rhee's the best person to teach it. He teaches it at (what feels like) a grad course level, so the ideas of optimization and running time really get hammered into your head.

I'm taking it with Lester. We were just notified that everyone in the class would receive 100's on both programming assignments.

how about stewart? he is teaching it second session. only problem is i'm taking ece456, and ece492v as well, so im not sure I can handle 316 in 5 weeks alongside these. the only reason i'm doing this is i'll be done after these classes

Rhee's class is hard. The projects are hard. The homework is hard. The tests are average.Best CSC class at State imo.
