ok, i just realized that this computer has or uses pc3200 memory..which it has only 256mb of..

i just ordered a 512mb stick of pc2700 ddr memory for this thing...will it work even though its a different speed or whatever??

this is a friends computer and i just did this last night while we were sorta drunk, so now im actually wondering if i fucked up

it'll work, but it will only run at the lowest timings...

if you have multiple sticks of RAM in there at different speeds they all run at the slowest speed.

its gonna make your computer slower than it would be if it was pc3200

it will slow down your other ramstick to the 2700 speed..

the only way you will be able to tell any difference is if you are playing games on this computer. PC2700 compared to PC3200 is marginal. Just like when you overclock your ram from DDR400 to DDR500 or whatever the difference is marginal.
