no, not the Panthers' wide receiver...the b-ball coach at Oak Hill Academyhe practically runs a college program there anyways, he loves develpoing players, he can obviously recruit, he's a proven winner against some of the stiffest competition in America, he schedules very difficult opponents....shit, he has his own series of basketball fundamentals DVDsRod Strickland, DeSagana Diop, Carmelo Anthony, Jerry Stackhouse, Josh Smith, Keith Bogans, Ron Mercer, Jeff McInnis, Rajon Rondo (UK), Devendorf (SU), Tywon Lawson (UNC), Marcus Williams (UConn), and tons morethey went 41-1 in the '05-06 season
4/27/2006 6:46:16 PM
well well you make a good point...I thought about it which most posts dont make me dowhere did you do the research on his former players?
4/27/2006 6:57:52 PM
on websites
4/27/2006 6:58:44 PM
Didnt know if it came from a story on ESPN or SI or some other site...
4/27/2006 6:59:32 PM
brotha, this is all meit just came to me when I was joking around with the boys about having to hire a high school coach. i haven't even seen his name brought up in any coaching searches
4/27/2006 7:01:10 PM
I was thinking the NBA player. And I'm pretty sure john kruk is kidding.
4/27/2006 7:01:28 PM
i'm not kidding at allin addition to the things I already listed, he has strong ties in the NC-MD-VA region, but he has also brought in a lot of recruits from the West COast and from the NYC area
4/27/2006 7:03:04 PM
Hey send a letter to FowlerThen a high school coach can turn us down publicly
4/27/2006 7:06:03 PM
ill jump on his bandwagon
4/27/2006 7:06:56 PM
i'm not feeling like giving HS coaches raises
he probably gets so much under the table from companies it wouldnt be a raise to come here
4/27/2006 7:08:19 PM
dude, Oak Hill's b-ball program is hardly on the high school levelI bet'cha that if the '05 team were to play Fordham ten times, they'd split it 5-5this is an academy in the middle of nowhere that is able to get Marcus Williams from L.A., Rod Strickland from Brooklyn and DeSagana Diop from Senegal. They got that way because he is a proven winner.he is one of the only men that I would wholeheartedly support in this coaching search[Edited on April 27, 2006 at 7:12 PM. Reason : ,]
4/27/2006 7:11:01 PM
with the talent he has at Oak Hill, I could coach them to a national championship.
4/27/2006 7:12:55 PM
what did I tell you about making comments about American sportsgo back to talking about sushi and bonzai trees
4/27/2006 7:15:35 PM
you couldnt get that talent there
4/27/2006 7:15:42 PM
^^^^Ohmm....you've lost it.He recruits sophmores and juniors....IN HIGH SCHOOL. He has to recruit against maybe 5 other high schools in the whole nation. He runs a basketball factory. And he really doesn't have to do a lot of coaching because he has such great basketball players compared to the teams he plays. This is ridiculous.[Edited on April 27, 2006 at 7:17 PM. Reason : .]
4/27/2006 7:16:26 PM
^^^ i wasn't talking about him getting a raise by coming here, i meant us offering him something and then him just getting a raise from oak hill.
4/27/2006 7:16:43 PM
are you so naive to think that 16-17 year old boys could go 41-1 without a very talented coach?
4/27/2006 7:19:48 PM
Everett Case was nothing but a high school caoch from some small town in Indiana prior to being hired at NC State.
4/27/2006 7:23:56 PM
We offered Morgan Wootten(Dematha HS) the head coaching job before V.... but he declined.
4/27/2006 7:24:13 PM
it really couldn't hurt to at least start talking to the guyFowler doesn't have too many friends out there as it is. this could be a smart hire and it would certainly be newsworthy
4/27/2006 7:27:26 PM
I wouldn't mind at least talking to him...Heck, our schools good relationship with Wootten led to a bunch of star players comming to State.
4/27/2006 7:29:54 PM
4/27/2006 7:30:49 PM
i come up with a serious thread every now and thenand I'm dead-fucking-serious that I want my beloved Herb's replacement to be Steve Smith
4/27/2006 7:32:15 PM
I appreciate this honest attempt at an orginal, thought provoking topic
4/27/2006 7:35:18 PM
It is definitly a good direction to look into. I assume the high school basketball season is over now, right?
4/27/2006 7:38:07 PM
TALK TO HIM FOWLER. COULDN'T HURT.[Edited on April 27, 2006 at 7:43 PM. Reason : SFD]

4/27/2006 7:40:24 PM
Holy Christ you fuckers are dumb.I am now impressed at the pull kruk has over this board...or maybe I'm not impressed with the level of intelligence of the people on this board...or both.
4/27/2006 7:42:07 PM
THAT WOULD BE A GREAT COACHING HIRE
4/27/2006 7:42:27 PM

4/27/2006 7:43:00 PM
i dont care either way
4/27/2006 7:44:30 PM
4/27/2006 7:46:57 PM

4/27/2006 7:48:59 PM
4/27/2006 7:50:33 PM
4/27/2006 7:52:20 PM
also... Morgan Wootten >>>>>> Steve Smithso that comparison I made should be stricken from the record.[Edited on April 27, 2006 at 7:54 PM. Reason : Damn it... now I'm spelling it wrong]
4/27/2006 7:54:13 PM
I concur. What the hell did his family do in that area to have a high school named after them?
4/27/2006 7:55:08 PM
the names are of no relation. I don't remember exactly the significance of who our high school was named after, and I frankly don't care to look it up.http://www.hoophall.com/halloffamers/Wooten.htmcheck out the linky... they got the name right in the bio at least.I wouldn't mind having a high school coach if he was super qualified(look at what Wootten did at Dematha). I would definitely like more info on Steve Smith.
4/27/2006 8:04:23 PM

4/27/2006 9:54:48 PM
i think it's a good thought, lookin at Steve Smith....considering the coaches who are really available right now, he might stack up well against them, and his resume does include some really good recruits...
4/27/2006 10:08:32 PM
he is one of the best availableif we can't get PJ, I think we should contact Smith
4/27/2006 10:09:29 PM
4/27/2006 10:09:50 PM
your posts are no longer welcome in this threadit is a joyful threadyou're bringing nothing but negativityplease leavewill we get Smith? nocan we dream? damn right
4/27/2006 10:12:40 PM
You shouldn't be dreaming about Steve Smith....unless you're a Panther's fan.And I will bring negativity to whoever I damn well please. Especially when you're talking about recruiting high school players to other high schools, and using that as a factor in saying he could be a good recruiter in college.[Edited on April 27, 2006 at 10:22 PM.
