Fowler has created a situation where it will be widely known that the coach we do get will be 5th choice. The good thing for this person is that unlike Carolina's 5th choice Matt Doherty, there is no NC State version of Roy Williams waiting out there, but this person is going to be reminded of being 5th choice for a long time.

FIRE NC STATE FANS
4/26/2006 10:14:31 PM
^^ The fans haven't offered the job four times and been rejected. Fowler is like the pro sports team that wines and dines free agents, but is just allowing himself to get used so that the free agent's original team is forced to give him more money.
4/26/2006 10:18:40 PM
how is it his fault that they havent accepted
4/26/2006 10:21:27 PM
it isn't his faultthey just want to yell at someone

Posted by Andy Katz at espn.com on April 13th:NC State can't swing and miss a third time, which is why multiple sources expect the Wolfpack to lock in a candidate they know will say yes. The Wolfpack have already been spurned by Texas' Rick Barnes and Memphis' John Calipari in their attempt to find a replacement for Herb Sendek (off to Arizona State). There is a host of different ways they could turn, like toward LSU's John Brady, Miami's Frank Haith, George Mason's Jim Larranaga or even ESPN analyst Steve Lavin, but the bottom line is they can't make a mistake again. NC State athletic director Lee Fowler already has proven to the rabid fan base that he is intent on pursuing a top candidate. He failed to nab one of them, but both were likely long shots. Now, he'll need to go with a safe pick from this point forward. Whomever he brings in now knows he's No. 3. He has to accept that he wasn't the first or even second choice. Some coaches may not want that tag; others may not care. Certainly, coaches at a lower level -- like Winthrop's Gregg Marshall -- would jump at the chance to be in the ACC, regardless of the pecking order.http://insider.espn.go.com/espn/blog/index?name=katz_andy&action=upsell&appRedirect=http%3a%2f%2finsider.espn.go.com%2fespn%2fblog%2findex%3fname%3dkatz_andy[Edited on April 26, 2006 at 10:27 PM. wait so now we are mad at fowler for not listening to andy katz?
4/26/2006 10:29:44 PM
its not his fault noone wants to coach herestop scapegoating him
4/26/2006 10:31:15 PM
^ No, just that Katz's comments show why we're getting a Doherty.
4/26/2006 10:32:09 PM
after we hire a coach...fire fowler...we dont want him heading the next search...football or bball
4/26/2006 10:34:36 PM
who's gonna replace fowler4 ADs will get raises and we'll be even worse off
4/26/2006 10:36:08 PM
hay guys guess whatthe media hates us they sure aren't going to help us out and land a great coach after being so ungrateful
4/26/2006 10:36:21 PM
I definitely don't trust Fowler to head our football coaching search in a year or two.Frightening.
4/26/2006 10:36:35 PM
how bout we run him off too!
4/26/2006 10:38:15 PM
Well here's the difference between running off Herb and running off FowlerHerb was competent
4/26/2006 11:02:45 PM
not according to the people who ran him off
4/26/2006 11:04:44 PM
Fowler is one of the most respected AD's in the business... there is good reason why Tenn. eyed him.
4/26/2006 11:04:47 PM
Ok, let's trade athletic directors with Tennessee and then they can eye him and fingerbang him and whatever else their little hearts desire
4/26/2006 11:08:38 PM
4/26/2006 11:22:07 PM
4/27/2006 12:16:43 AM
you knowhe could have hired marshall right off and avoided all of thisBUT NO YOU PEOPLE DEMANDED A BIG TIMER!
4/27/2006 12:18:30 AM
what happened to the whole "wow, i respect Fowler more now that he's actually gone after the big guys..."dumb people...
4/27/2006 12:22:36 AM
if fowler isn't in deep shit with the chancellor and the board at this point then something is seriously wrong...he shouldn't have gone for Barnes and Calipari, he should have spent his time looking for someone worthwhile... but he cracked before the same asshole fans who caused herb to leave in the first place...if he survives this then he must have some naked pictures of the governor or something...
4/27/2006 12:34:21 AM
Lee Fowler is just plain incompetent.Rick Barnes & John Calipari are one thing...But now he can't close a deal with Steve fucking Lavin? If Fowler cant get him to leave some shitty network job to take one of the best job openings college basketball has seen this decade then something is just wrong. This is completely absurd and he better land a fucking competent coach next week. What the hell is wrong with this guy...
4/27/2006 7:17:58 AM
It amazes me that most of you guys seem to support Fowler and didn't support HerbYou're pretty much right on there, rally
4/27/2006 7:19:17 AM
I think it's five strikes now
4/27/2006 8:53:49 AM
http://www.statefansnation.com/index.php/archives/2006/04/27/scoop-analysis-how-fowler-flubbed-beilein/According to Statefans, Fowler tried to change the conditions of the agreement with Beilein at the last minute, causing Beilein to withdraw and make his statement yesterday afternoon. His incompetence has reached new levels.

4/27/2006 10:09:52 AM
4/27/2006 10:26:04 AM
Could somebody please fire Fowler
4/27/2006 11:30:35 AM
4/27/2006 11:31:02 AM
right, i'm sure it's his fault, it's not people like you that scare away normal coaches
4/27/2006 2:33:19 PM
4/27/2006 3:02:11 PM
now we're really fucked. no coach will want to come here if they aren't even sure the person that hired him will still be around
4/27/2006 3:03:27 PM
yeah i really dont think this is one of the best job openings this decade. or even over the last 2-3 years
4/27/2006 3:13:02 PM
4/27/2006 5:01:58 PM
Well I disagree. Its not UCLA or UNC, but its definitely on the 2nd tier. Our roster is loaded, the facilities are nice, we're in an elite conference, the pay is high, the exposure is high, etcYou'd have a tough time naming 5 jobs since 2000 that have opened up that are more attractive than this one. You'd have an impossible time naming 10.
4/27/2006 7:04:25 PM
Who exactly would fire Fowler? Our yes man Chancellor? HA!
4/27/2006 9:27:48 PM
no way, this shit is great
