yeah they should've waited

it takes at least 20 years before it's cool to profit from a disaster of this magnitude

I think it's interesting to see a perspective of that horrible day -- OTHER than what we all only know.

People profit off of shitty things almost daily.. there are movies that do it all the time.

I'd rather them profit from a horrible day from the point of view of the heros than never have an understanding of their story.

..and I'mnot being an asshole when i say its the same as saying

"don't go see Pearl Harbor"
"don't see Saving Private Ryan"
"Dont see ..... "

I'm pretty sure someone could derive an equation that shows how appropriate it is to potray a certain disaster, based on the number, type and cause of dead.

I've seen one for when it's alright to joke about a disaster based on number dead, location, and where the joke is being made

the profits from this movie should be donated to 9/11 victims ... but hollywood doesn't REALLY care, they just want to profit.

"the profits from this movie should be donated to 9/11 victims ... but hollywood doesn't REALLY care, they just want to profit."

Part of it is. 10% of the opening weekend revenues go to the victims, which will equate to several million dollars--have you given several million dollars? And as for not caring, the creator of this movie called each victim of Flight 93 and asked if they wanted the movie to be made before creating it. If one family didn't want it made, he wasn't going to make it. If the victims of the families were OK with this movie, and even wanted it, who are you, me or anyone else to say differently? Sounds to me like the creator cares a lot more than you do.

This isn't the typical Hollywood crew.

Well, its been 60+ years since WWII, but I bet more than 10 times as many people died in WWII as they did in 9/11.

Seriously people, get over yourselves.

And you think a hollywood movie will provide this because?

Trust me, whatever you think you might know about Flight 93 is probably more accurate than a movie "based" on the true story"

Not according to the families and those in the loop. According to them, this movie was made as accurate as possible--right down to the clothes that the victims were wearing that day and their accents. But then again, I'm sure you know better than them.

I'm not going to see it (at least not in theaters) because I don't want to watch a hollywood story. On a side note, I also don't like to watch movies that make me cry, and I cry pretty easily.

Yeah ive heard they have been extremely careful with this movie as far as facts go,
still i have a few doubts about their intentions
im sure they'll donate a chuck of the profits to the families if not all of it

^^I guess that is the difference between you and me. When I see the marketing hype begin to say things like "it's accurate down to the clothes and accents" what I really hear is "we went out of our way to get some minor details right so we could use them as a selling point, all this to cover up the fact that most of the story is just filler".

Yeah I guess you could say "more than 10 times as many"

Total fatalities of the 9/11 attacks: 2,986
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/September_11%2C_2001_attacks

World war 2:
Quote :
"The total estimated human loss of life caused by World War II, irrespective of political alignment, was roughly 62 million people. The civilian toll was around 37 million, the military toll about 25 million."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_War_II_casualties

I guess 2000 times as many is more than 10 times as many.

WWII also took place in Europe, that crazy fantasy land that America isn't really concerned with

physical distance from the disaster is definitely important. Europeans/Japanese are probably not cool with mocking WWII.

this movie = republicans in office for the forseeable future

whilst i'm iffy on the spending and the recent pandering to the "gas costs too much" people, i'm generally pleased with the prospect

i'll happily not watch it though - i'm saving myself for snakes on a plane for all my ariel thrills
