Of course not, why would he for ASU no less? But he had the support of the team, administatration and the faculty. This was clearly about support or lack there of from the fans.[Edited on April 26, 2006 at 4:22 PM. Reason : .]

paycheck?
4/26/2006 4:22:05 PM
doubtfull, only Lou Holtz does makes the improve-a-college coaching tour and going to ASU is basically a like a new start at a program down on it's luck. Similar to where State was when he first took the job.
4/26/2006 4:24:30 PM
face it, a few uber-vocal fans ran a good man and a good coach out of town because they thought there might be a viable replacement waiting in the wings.never quit your job unless you have another lined up -- or in this case don't show somebody the exit unless there's another coach beating down the doorbad business
4/26/2006 4:25:37 PM
fag. No he wouldn't have left.dont' post anymore for the rest of the day.
4/26/2006 4:26:04 PM
Possibly.Regardless of what your job is, making an extra $500,000 each year is pretty enticing.Even if he had full support here, there would have been extra pressure and responsibility that simply isn't present at the ASU job.He would certainly have considered it I think. An extra half Mil/year and an easier job....
4/26/2006 4:26:21 PM
^ there are contract negotiation's for situations like that for a reason.

Says whom?
4/26/2006 4:29:01 PM
yeah for fucking real.the ten billion coaches who turned us down.[Edited on April 26, 2006 at 4:29 PM. Reason : .]
4/26/2006 4:29:07 PM
Oh, I don't know.EVERY COACH WHO HAS TURNED US DOWN SO FAR?
4/26/2006 4:29:32 PM
All of the people we offered that were going to get a raise considered strongly our offer. That's pretty much the same as being enticed by a job, no?
4/26/2006 4:29:47 PM
No. It means we're getting fucked with and deservedly so.
4/26/2006 4:32:35 PM
^^ No they decided to stay at thier schools for LESS money than what they would have recieved if they had came to State.[Edited on April 26, 2006 at 4:35 PM. Reason : .]
4/26/2006 4:34:29 PM
That doesn't mean they weren't enticed and seriously considered it.The media has indicated that both Barnes AND Calipari were very seriously considering the job. Hell Calipari pretty much took the job until he found out about UNC school system's admission req's.The point is Herb would have seriously considered the offer to coach for more money at a lower pressure school.

i dunnoim pretty sure herb left because he was unhappy at nc statemaybe because people talked shit about him on message boards and booed him in publicjust a crazy guess though
4/26/2006 4:39:14 PM
So he'd still prally make more money at a lower pressure school.Hell, all I'm saying is that we don't know. Maybe he would, maybe he wouldn't have.I'd wager that he would have stayed, but who knows...I'm tired of my high pressure job and if I could find one that pays a similar amount with much less stress, I'd take it in a heartbeat.
4/26/2006 4:39:18 PM
he left because he had become the center of attention, not the programhe left because dumbass "fans" tagged the cars of true fans who were at a game with "fire herb" post-itshe left because "fans" yelled mean things at his wifehe left because the children of "fans" began picking on his childrenhe left because of nc state "fans"
4/26/2006 4:41:53 PM
If it weren't for the fact that he was being hammered nonstop by our "fanbase", there's no doubt in my mind that Herb would have stayed here.

"maybe if our fans cared more about being entertained by student athletes playing basketball, rather than how many banners we hung and how many times we beat UNC and how many pre-season tournaments we play in and how we're perceived by the media and how there are no names on the back of the jerseys and how we run an offense that only produced 74 points per game, we'd still have a quality coach"
4/26/2006 4:59:42 PM
wait wait waittheres a debate about if he would have left? there should be no debate
