Has anyone had him as their professor? How is he? I have to take him over the summer and haven't heard anything about him.

Considering he made me HATE Java after i was done with him.My advice, do NOT take it with him unless you want to barely survive with a C-. its your call. [Edited on April 26, 2006 at 2:40 PM. Reason : .]

I had him last summer and thought he was an excellent professor. If you want to learn a lot then be glad you are taking his class because he makes you learn the material in order to get a good grade. He's also very helpful in office hours and he's the best programmer I've had as an instructor at NC State.

^hmmmm.....I strongly disagree.I ended up with an A, but I learned everything on my own..he made the material hell for me.

^^^how did he make you hate java, you mean hate programming cause java is alot easier than some other OO languages like C++

wow that sucks....so who liked Wright? I am guessing from the comments his grades were generally pretty bad. His classes have no distribution reports

I liked him in 510 and 546, but I can't comment on his Java skills.

I like David Wright and he's a great teacher if your serious about learning good programming skills. If you care about learning csc216 then he's a great teacher. I think some of these other people either just don't really want to learn the material or aren't csc majors.

well you are wrong... i wanted , and did eventually learn on my own... but no thanks to his lectures. The project was a mess because he kept adding his own code every week and we had to then alter what we had working to be compatible with his.... and it was never a complete project anyhow... so it was more his class administration and lectures than anything else. One good thing is that he would spend time in office hours if you went to see him.I made an A btw, but many many did not. I just hated his class.

^we must not of had his class at the same time because in my class with him last summer there were four projects and they were well structured and the specs never changed from the day they were assigned. so if he previously did his projects in that way then he has changed now.
