i have four brothers and im trying to watch it but i have no sound

i had power dvd but its just a demo and its expired

im thinking theres got to be a good free program out there to play video files other than wmp

fuck dat gay shit.

heres what you do

get gspot codec info here:
http://www.headbands.com/gspot/

use gspot to load the video file. It will figure out what the exact codec you need to get is.

then go googling for the individual codec.

and for fucks sake do not get codec packs. They will fuck your shit up.

The most likely codec for audio is probably AC3. You can get an AC3 Direct Show filter here:

http://ac3filter.sourceforge.net/

Since its a direct show filter any good media player in windows will be able to take advantage of the codec. Including Windows Media Player.

plain old windows media player, the one built into windows and free.

VLC is far and away the best.

the only other this would be to download a fully enabled 30 day trial of something and then set your windows clock like 2 years into the future before you install it.

dont get ffdshow, its crap.

just get divx from the official divx website to make sure you have the latest version.

I dont like VLC as a player at all. I only use it when nothing else can play a video
