another "revolutionary" engine that looks pretty cool. DARPA is testing these engines in several applications because of their high power-to-weight ratio (more than 1 hp/lb).http://home.arcor.de/hildst/EnEx99e.htmlhttp://wheels.ca/columns/jul_05_lastditch.phpThis engine can theoretically double the efficiency of a typical gasoline engine[Edited on April 25, 2006 at 1:27 AM. old. Fairbanks Morse made opposing piston 2-strokes before your daddy was a glimmer in yer granddaddy's eyes.Granted, they didn't have that type of common-crankshaft and long ass rods arrangement; they had two shafts geared together.Junkers actually had a Juno diesel with opposing pistons...FOR AIRCRAFT. Back in WWII

^^when talking about engines, pretty much everything is old. When people combine 2 concepts, then you got something new. There is nothing old about opposed pistons combined with opposed cylinders.

http://www.psrm.org/roster/diesel/fm/index.html^true about that. I've never seen opposed cylinders like that.

damn... thats pretty badass zx...

pssh, pistols are tired and old, I like my new engine concepts to involve some freaky geometry

they should make a college degree you can get for studying engines.

I've seen a good many headless hit and miss engines. the later maytag engines were opposed 2 strokes
