another "revolutionary" engine that looks pretty cool. DARPA is testing these engines in several applications because of their high power-to-weight ratio (more than 1 hp/lb).

old. Fairbanks Morse made opposing piston 2-strokes before your daddy was a glimmer in yer granddaddy's eyes.

Granted, they didn't have that type of common-crankshaft and long ass rods arrangement; they had two shafts geared together.

Junkers actually had a Juno diesel with opposing pistons...FOR AIRCRAFT. Back in WWII

^^when talking about engines, pretty much everything is old. When people combine 2 concepts, then you got something new.

There is nothing old about opposed pistons combined with opposed cylinders.

I've seen a good many headless hit and miss engines. the later maytag engines were opposed 2 strokes
