There hasn't been a thread about great movie scores in a while. So here's one.I just downloaded the music from Mean Creek today- it's like cello heaven.I generally like Thomas Newman (American Beauty, Road to Perdition) and Jon Brion (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, I Heart Huckabees) as score composers, too.Which scores do you particularly like?

I'm a big fan of Mark Mothersbaugh's work in Wes Anderson's movies.Kevin Shields's music and soundtrack selections for Lost in Translation were perfect.Michael Andrews did Me and You and Everyone We Know, which had a score that was very Brion-esque.And, I fucking hate to admit it, but John Williams's score to Munich isn't half bad. And I fucking HATE John Williams.

^ I got a fourth on that one. The Mothersbaugh featurette on the Life Aquatic DVD is worth the price of the whole thing. I really like the story about slipping the trombone into the RT score and catching Wes off guard.

I'm trying to think of more, but most of the time, I'm thankful if the score doesn't detract from an otherwise good movie (see The Untouchables, Taxi Driver, or, more recently, Inside Man.)

Oh man, I don't know how I missed this, both because it's super hyped and still really good, but Requiem for a Dream. I think it's the only non-Wes Anderson sountrack/score I own.
