Inspired by the posting of The Core in the Most Painful Movies to Watch thread I thought I'd share this link I found a while back.

http://www.intuitor.com/moviephysics/

It goes into common movie physics misconceptions (jumping through glass, explosions in outer space, visible laser beams, etc.) and goes in depth on some movies. Not surprising is their number one pick for bad movie physics: The Core.

And all the nerds rejoice in their vindication.

The Core is one of the most entertaining movies ever made.

Watch it with someone who has a sense of humor and that isn't a fucking idiot, and it is hillarious.

You're welcome

and I love that site

^ I assume by "hilarious" you mean WATCHING the non fucking idiot person with sense of humour becoming sick and disgusted when watching said movie.

they do take into account the movie genre

Good site, but the section on falls is questionable. Rather than comparing falls with bullet impacts, they find some actual data on fall distances and injuries.

Reign of Fire was terrible but when McCanahey(or whatever his name is) jumps head first off the tower with the axe toward the dragon I laugh my ass off and makes the movie worth watching again.

Don't forget James Bond movies.

I did a project back in high school and we used the scene in which he jumps after a plane that went off a mountain. He catches up with the planein mid-air, gets in, and pulls it up from a free fall.

Any more than 3 feet of water is presented as enough to safely land in from any height. This is especially shitty when movies disreguard concepts like terminal velocity.
