If you hade the choice of those three (for roughly the same price), which would you stay at and why?
4/19/2006 4:34:22 PM
depends on how i would want to spend my time in vegas.if i wanted to spend most of my time gambling i would stay at the mgm.if i was there for the spectacle then i would stay at treasure island (more centrally located).and i honestly don't know much about the wynn.
4/19/2006 4:45:30 PM
MGM isn't a bad location. You're on the strip with a monorail stop, and you can also catch the tram that goes over to the Luxor and Mandalay Bay.
4/19/2006 4:50:15 PM
wynn
4/19/2006 4:54:17 PM
Wynn is nice, but too many rich old people. Plus the poker tables dont have a buy-in limit. Who wants to sit down at a 1-2 dollar no-limit table beside a guy who has 10 grand in front of him?MGM is the way to go. Nice poker room, good night life, nice rooms.

I'm partial to TI because I got a 6oz "shot" of super-premium vodka at the bartender show
4/19/2006 6:56:42 PM
Ill be in Vegas next friday
4/19/2006 7:10:25 PM
I like the Flamingo- nice, not too big and overdone, but close to everything . Has a wedding chapel in it too
4/19/2006 9:32:58 PM
Wynn
4/19/2006 9:52:18 PM
MGM!!!
4/19/2006 11:23:53 PM
What's this kind of thing run ya?
4/19/2006 11:52:51 PM
im goin to vegas in august. To stay at the MGM and plane ticket, the best prices i could find so far are right around 450.[Edited on April 20, 2006 at 2:15 AM. Reason : staying for 3 nights]
4/20/2006 2:14:56 AM
I stayed at the MGM earlier this year. MGM had the nicest poker room on the strip. I went to the belagio, ceasars, TI, and the luxor and their facilities were crap in comparison. They Wynn is absolutely gorgeous but I never saw their poker facilities. I got distracted by the car museum and don't even remember seeing the gambling floor. Honestly, stay wherever you like. it's super easy to get around the strip. TI is the more centrally located but the bus system makes it all pretty irrelevant.oh and the Italian Restaurant in MGM is the heat (can't remember name). Don't miss out.
4/20/2006 5:56:13 AM
in order of my preferences:venetian > bellagio > wynn > mandalay bay > ceasar's = rio = mgm = paris = ny ny = aladdin = luxor = excalibur > treasure island = flamingo = tropicana > sahara = circus circus = other older stuff on the stripi probably left off several but honestly, there are TONS of nice places. of the three you picked i'd choose 1. wynn 2. mgm and 3. treasure island.

Getting there next Saturday and staying until the following Friday. Can't wait!
6/13/2012 11:03:00 PM
bumped a 6 year old thread for that?
6/13/2012 11:06:37 PM
^ My request. Headed there in a few months for 5 nights, looking for something decent ~$500. Cheapest I've found on the strip so far is $340 OTD for the nicest room at Circus Circus, but I'd like to be a little more central than that.
6/13/2012 11:16:58 PM
But yeah, I spent 2 weeks @ "t.i.", as it is titled now while doing some work at Wynn a while back. Would have much rather stayed at Wynn while there.^Anything on the south side of the main strip should get you in that range. Excalibur, MGM, New York-New York, etc. Or at least they used to.[Edited on June 13, 2012 at 11:19 PM. Reason : .]

I prefer non-gaming hotels (trump, mandarin, vdara) but the Wynn and aria are both nice. I like to go do my thing and come back to peace and quite, plus they tend to be more personal and attentive. I had some friends stay at bellagio and mgm, both were old, shitty, and too crowded imo.
6/14/2012 12:50:53 AM
Just got back from Aria Monday.Everything about it is great -- except if you have AT&T which is a complete shitfest in that hotel.
6/14/2012 1:17:01 AM
6/14/2012 1:51:29 AM
^^stayed at Aria last yearin one sense it doesnt really matter where you stay as long as its not a shithole, i went to probably 8 different casinos, just happened to sleep at Aria
6/14/2012 2:03:38 AM
The MGM was nice, and I could sit at the tables without mortgaging my house ($10-15 blackjack). I have walked through the casino at the Wynn, and at the time (5 years ago) the tables were outrageous. I remember routinely seeing $50-$1000 table minimums, so we walked through and then went back with the commoners.
6/14/2012 7:21:34 AM
Anyone know of a way to get nice deals on hotels there....or is it just hit or miss booking through their websites?
6/14/2012 10:53:50 AM
Going in July. got a 3 night stay comp'd at the Luxor. Anyone have experience there?
6/14/2012 3:16:12 PM
^ How did you pull that off? Are you part of their betting club or something?]
6/14/2012 3:21:45 PM
yea I have a MLife players card. they send me free stays every month. make sure and get one while your there, gamble, get free shit. profit.
6/14/2012 3:24:51 PM
Luxor is adequate, not my favorite because of the super long walk to your hotel room possibility. The shape of the floors means a walk back to your room from the floor can take like 10-15 minutes. The plusses for Luxor are the indoor walkway to go to mandalay bay or excalibur. You can travel back without fear of robbery or confrontation which is a more significant problem than you'd think. Esp if you're a girl or a pussy. Also, there is a nice prostitute at the end of the escalator who will always compliment you when you walk out of mandalay. Also they have a nice pool as long as the fucking pyramid is blocking the sun.Recommendation. Take the indoor walkway over to excalibur. In the basement they have an arcade filled with classic arcade games. The prize possession is the original bubble hockey table, which I believe is the Canada vs Russia version. Hint: one of the goaltenders doesn't rotate fully anymore, so don't take that team. It's the equivalent of having Kelly hrudey in nhl '94 while your opponent has Cujo. Also you shouldn't leave Vegas without eating at the Earl of Sandwich in planet Hollywood. Talk about a mean sandwich. If you're really into fine sandwiches the venetian has the best sandwich I've ever had in my life. I've had maybe 6 of them (this is a new discovery for me) and each one is tied for first place as the all time finest sandwich.Don't play poker at mgm. Every 20 minutes they have a fucking dance party at the party bar right beside it. The noise annoyance is unparalleled. The best room to play poker in is planet Hollywood. It's open in the middle of the floor so randoms join games and at night all the club goers walk directly by you. Get a good seat for view or you'll have a sore neck from whipping around everytime you see the 50 year old at your table have an aneurysm because of the talent walking by.The aria is overrated in my opinion and the pool is downright dangerous. At a certain time of day the sun shines off the building and the redirection is hot enough that it has given people burns similar to chemical burns. It has literally set Styrofoam cups on fire. Think I'm kidding? Look it up there are lawsuits stemming from it.Venetian would be my preference, but my advice is to save your money. Location matters more than hotel accomodations. I would suggest ALWAYS staying on the strip. Don't touch downtown, Rio, or any of the resorts a fewiles from the strip. It's also not worth it to stay any farther down than the wynn. The hotels beyond that are dumps, the walk is brutal and slightly unsafe. These hotels I only stay in when free. Theres a ton of shit to do there obviously. The tour of the grand canyon and Hoover dam in a 6 man airplane is pretty cool and if you look a little you can usually find buy one get one free.
6/14/2012 3:56:36 PM
^I disagree with just about everything in this post, with the exception of Earl of Sandwich. Great spot for a decent and cheap meal.
6/14/2012 4:21:03 PM
does Stratosphere suck? It's always super cheap on expedia (<$35/night) and I have at least heard of it, but don't want to stay there if it is a dump or far from other hotspots.
6/14/2012 4:32:40 PM
what sports book would you recommend, face? I don't know a lot about sports betting, but I definitely want to place some bets while I'm there.
6/14/2012 4:36:03 PM
^^ stratosphere is the last casino on the strip before you get to downtown. it's a long ass way to all the fun stuff on the strip (plus sahara closed so the lure of $1 blackjack is gone)oh, and whoever said MGM was the best poker room, no way. it's nice, and affordable, but for sheer luxury, the venetian is unmatchedto the OP, i've stayed at both MGM and TI. they were both nice rooms, but we got a sweet ass high floor in MGM with a phenomenal view of the strip just by asking. they also have a kiosk at McCarran that you can check into rather than doing it at the hotel (people online complained about it, but we had a great experience). the walk to the room in MGM took forever though. TI isn't quite as nice, but it's more centrally located and you can get a good view of the sirens show if you get the right side. the pool is MUCH nicer at MGM, whereas at TI it's almost entirely enclosed so there's almost no breeze. MGM also has a better food court for just basic meals like McDs, etc. basically, TI is more centrally located, but MGM is better in just about every way[Edited on June 14, 2012 at 5:14 PM. ^^the new sports book in the venetian is really nice.they were taking reservations during bball tournament season though.

I liked the Bellagio, Venetian, and Caesar's the best. NY, NY is cool. I thought the Luxor and especially Excalibur were pretty dated, although we got a nice ass suite at Luxor once because we told them it was my friend's birthday. Only paid like $80
6/15/2012 3:36:34 PM
Yea I figured since the Luxor is one of the older properties on the strip it may be a little dated. Oh well, I just need a place to sleep
6/15/2012 8:18:13 PM
We stayed at the MGM and while it was good overall. Next time I want to stay in the middle of the strip somewhere. Those walks from MGM to Belagio and Ceasers took its toll after 4 days
6/15/2012 8:27:46 PM
which hotels are considered "middle of the strip"?I haven't heard much about the monte carlo.. thoughts?
6/16/2012 8:22:41 AM
Flamingo/Caesars/Bellagio/Ballys/Paris/P-Ho are usually considered the center of the strip. There's no scale in this map image so the distances aren't as easily understood. The first time I went I found myself saying "oh _____ hotel is just a couple hotels away." What I didn't realize is just how massive and sprawling the resorts are, and how walking past 2 or 3 hotels can take 20 minutes or more So yeah what ^^ said is quite true if you're going to walk everywhere.
6/16/2012 9:25:00 AM
Not sure what you could possibly disagree with in my post as most of it was fact rather than opinion. As for sportsbook if you want a classic sportsbook experience just about anywhere will do , but the venetian, mandalay, etc are the nicest. For a more modern experience check out the Palazzo. Sportsbook is called Lagasse Stadium and it has stadium seating, live in game betting, couches, waitresses, memoribilia, etc. Pretty cool place but you will spend some money there and if you go for a big game it may be full

i go to vegas every year, downside of my reviews i don't gamble.Last year was Vdara, very nice rooms, interesting because it is a non-gaming casino. only real drawback was the walk to anywhere, you either have to tram over to aria, or monte carlo, or walk out through the bellagio, or sort of walk down behind the cosmo to get to the strip.I stayed in the Monte Carlo two years ago, they have nice big rooms, and even 1 1/2 bathrooms in them. the price was right. dining in the casino ranged from a budget food court to middle high end, and had a sports pub with a large beer selection. three years ago I was in the bellagio, that was super nice room wise, dining was all moderate to high end, but good (cept the sushi it was very below what i would figure for a 5 diamond resort). The staff was super attentive to everything. there was little or no late night dining there, and their club (The Bank) was just "meh" too many black lights and not enough real atmosphere. Before that was Luxor, it really needs a complete overhaul, the decor is jsut starting to look worn out in the rooms, the wallpaper is all peeling and the bathrooms look 1 step over motel 6 type stuff. I did love the whole concept and the architecture is amazing, pool is very nice (or was then). From what I have heard it is getting a revamp in the near future (much the same way as monte carlo, MGM and tropicana have had)This year I am booked in MGM, wanted the monorail to get to and from the convention center, and this was the hotel with the best deal. I love me some vegas, but some of the hotels are getting overly dated and need redoing. I woudl liek to stay in the venetian sometime as it is one of the largest 5 diamond resorts in the world and it is not part of the caesars/harrahs group.

Thinking about Bally's for a Tuesday/Wednesday night stay. Centrally located and at $35 a night, seems like a good deal. Any reason not to stay/any advice on Bally's?
7/1/2012 9:10:06 PM
If you're staying in MGM, don't get too drunk in the casino. It's huge and confusing and easy to get lost in. And when you get lost in a casino, you end up spending way, way too much money.

The mgm wasn't confusing, but it certainly was big.
