I have baby mice and I need to sex them within the next 2 weeks or so in order to seperate the boys and girls before they start having more babies. Can anyone offer me any assistance...maybe some pictures or just detailed information on how to sex them? Thanks!

you have to look at their genital pore.. the females are close together and the males are farther apart

if you really need help, then I can help but they won't start breeding that fast

well, the babies were born the 9th, so they are over a week old and i was told i needed to seperate them at around 3-4 weeks. I have never had baby mice before so I have no idea how to sex them...what does the genital pore look like?

i'll have to show you what I'm trying to say.. once you've done it a couple times it's easy..

basically you look at how far the uretha is distance wise from the anus... and by the time you have to seperate them there should be some testicles developing too

Females= visible nipples
Males = no visible nipples

Seriously, that's the easiest way.

how old do they have to be before their nipples show?

By the time they are fuzzies, I can usually see nipples on the females.--which appear [at this age] as dots--but as the hair comes in, the nipples are more apparent because the hair grows around the nipples. If your litter was born on the ninth, you should be able to sex them this way by now or very soon. The nipples are rather apparent once the hair comes in, so if you do not see any, you may have all males.

they're all different colors now, but their hair hasn't really grown at all yet...does that mean they are fuzzies?

Sounds like fuzzies, or close to it.

This is going to sound weird, but all the mice seem to have a little bump about 2 cm from their tail base...is that a scrotum or do all mice have it?

umm, at that age 2cm is the length of thier entire body...

do you mean 2mm? and it's probably still too early to tell, how old are they?

okay, so, can someone either meet me somewhere this weekend or can I come to your house for help with sexing the mice? I'm pretty sure they're old enough. Some of them are eating solid foods and they have all started moving around the cage. They all have their eyes open and will be three weeks on Sunday.

to start off with your going to have convience your male mouse to take out the female mouse to dinner. now its imporntant that the male doesnt come on too strong to the female or he will come off as too desprate thus making him look wimpy and unmasculine. another point to go over with, with your male mouse is to not keep checking out other hot mice as they walk by because this would kill your male mouses game and he would probally have to pull some major magic out of his ass to get here to throw the punan around after that. make sure he knows its imporntant to keep up the conversation because nothing has killed more female mice mood than the dreaded awkward scilence. that pretty much covers the dinner part and if he plays his cards and does as i have explained then she should invite him in for a drink. i wont go into details here but im sure we can agree if he makes it that far hes no more than 20 min away from hot, sweaty, smelly mouse sex all over the cage. i send your male mouse the best of luck and if all else fails tell him to slip a roofie into her waterbottle.
