If they both were in their primes, I'd take Pete.
4/17/2006 11:06:24 PM
Haha.Right.
4/17/2006 11:07:41 PM
what are you drunk or something, mr. hurley.
4/17/2006 11:08:13 PM
pistol pete shot about as often as kobe
4/17/2006 11:12:36 PM
yeah, larry would definately win one-on-one, since he had better supporting casts and all
4/17/2006 11:21:00 PM
Bird:24.3 PPG10.0 RPG6.3 APGMaravich:24.2 PPG4.2 RPG5.4 APGMaravich was a terrific player and Bird had a much better supporting cast...but come on.
4/17/2006 11:39:02 PM
Even if you just consider the scoring....Bird shot a higher FG% and FT%.Bird may be slower but he'd shoot the J over Pete all day long.
4/17/2006 11:41:07 PM
PeteGames 658 fg% .441 3pt.% .667 *** ft% .82 assists 3,563 5.4 per gamepts. 15,948 24.2 per game ***reb. 2,747 4.2 per gameonly played one year with a three point line (his final year in the nba) and was known as a great long range shooter. imagine what is total pts. and ppg would be if he had that luxury his entire career. for that matter i wonder what his 44.2 ppg in college would have been? Hell, as amazing as redick was for duke, pete still outscored him by 900 points without the three ball and only playing 3 years of varsity basketball. LarryGames 897 fg% .496 3 pt. %.376 ft% .886assists 5,695 6.3 per game (pete didn't have the luxury of playing next to parrish, ainge, and mchale)pts. 21,791 24.3 per gamerebounds 8,974 10 per game (apples vs. oranges as one was a forward and the other a guard)Close call but i'd have to take pete considering he didn't get to play during the 3pt. era and also for his spectacular ball handling ability.[Edited on April 17, 2006 at 11:54 PM. 4/17/2006 11:44:56 PM
I would take whoevers cards are worth more money
4/17/2006 11:50:38 PM
If I were choosing teams, I'd have to go with bird. Maravich was a loser.
4/17/2006 11:50:44 PM
pete was a better ballhandler as well
4/18/2006 12:07:19 AM
pete was a drunk
4/18/2006 12:09:04 AM
^^better doesn't even describe it. His dad taught him how to dribble by driving a truck with pete hanging out the window and dribbling for christ sake.[Edited on April 18, 2006 at 12:10 AM. Reason : m][Edited on April 18, 2006 at 12:10 AM. Reason : m]

ok, college pete vs. college larrycollege pete any day of the week. larry had weak competition.
4/18/2006 12:10:10 AM
not even a contest, college pete.
4/18/2006 12:11:13 AM
hell, Shavlik broke the Pistol's HS single game scoring record, so I'll take him over either.
4/18/2006 12:28:08 AM
why the hell does that matter?
4/18/2006 12:29:45 AM
it doesn't, hence the rolling eyes.

You gotta take Bird.Winning while being slow and white makes it much more insulting.
4/18/2006 1:22:01 AM
Maravich didn't win a championship. That will always be held over him.
4/18/2006 7:33:50 AM
the year after he retired, the celtics team maravich would've been on won the titlethe hawks teams he were on never accepted him from the outset because he didn't fit into their mold of play, basically because of his showmanship and shoot-first mentalityoh yeah, his all-time NCAA points record of 3,667 - DONE IN THREE YEARShe and oscar robertson would be 1-2 never-to-be-touched-again if they had both played four yearsin conclusion, in the NBA playoffs, i'd still take Bird [Edited on April 18, 2006 at 12:30 PM. 4/18/2006 12:29:21 PM
you're not comparing these two just because they are white, are you?
4/18/2006 4:24:13 PM
no, im comparing them b/c theyre both known for making crazy, unorthodox shotsnow, if i wanted a ballhandling batte, i would have said Pete vs. Magic or Pete vs. Oscar Robertson
4/18/2006 4:48:35 PM
Magic would have to bring the ball up with his back to the defender.Take away the fast break which they ran and the fact that he has 6'9" and his APG/ballhandling isn't that impressive.
4/18/2006 4:50:50 PM
2 v 2 Stockton and Malone would be unstoppable.
4/18/2006 4:51:14 PM
Stockton, Robertson, Pistol, Cousy, Rick Barry, Magic, Isaiah Thomas, and Jason Kidd in an 8-man tournamentactually, add a Nate Archibald-Jason Kidd play-in game to that
